Believe it or not all three (Estrada/Rodriguez/Johnson) were at one time considered equally promising by most experts and were anticipated to rule the division.
Yeah, there was a time where big things were projected for Oosthuizen - bookended, ironically, by two draws (the draw with Chilemba being his coming out party and the start of the hype, and the draw with Gonzales pretty much spelling the end of it - even though he does have four solid victories since, his stock has dipped since he struggled with Gonzales in what many felt was a gift decision for him). From 2010 until 2013 he just continued to clean out the B-graders at SMW and looking impressive, then just like that the bubble burst and even though he's still undefeated nobody is as high on him anymore.
...correct, not yet. I think you did the RBR for that one. That was the night I was in the car accident.
Yeah it was, go watch it Now, you won't be sorry, its only 3 rounds, it was a FOTY contender, it was like Hagler-Hearns with no defense or skill, its probably on your cable Spike TV Ondemand if its not on YT. It popped in my mind when you mentioned Edwin earlier.
Oh yeah, they swapped knockdowns in round one, I think? I vaguely remember watching highlights. Or maybe the full thing. (I was still freshly concussed) I'm watching it again now. :good
http://www.spike.com/video-clips/0abefr/premier-boxing-champions-rodriguez-vs-seals-highlights WOW! For a couple of touted amateurs (one a prospect signed w/ Al Haymon, the other a product of the Cuban national system with some top honors collected at international tourneys), Williams Jr. and Savigne put on a horrendous display of next to no technical skill. What a sloppy mess that was. :-( Their problems are worse than I thought. If these guys ever make it to Emerald City and visit the Wizard, they need a whole lot more help than just a chin for Savigne and heart for Williams Jr. Both need a brain even more than Scarecrow did! I've seen 4-rounders at local club shows with less haphazard slapping!
Next up in The Lounge Hot Actresses of the 60's to 80's as a companion piece to my 20's to 50's thread.
I remember hearing some of the hype surrounding Rodriguez and Estrada but I wasn't really aware of any surrounding Johnson.
Went fat and outof shape to the rock and slava was getting the better of him and he tried to take slava down. Never seen him since.
