I guess we could be like the British and all our fighters have Glass Jaws, no Heart, and mentally weak? PBF is better than anything you will ever have.
It's funny how Americans are so defensive. "Someone said something bad about my country!! :crybaby" You, my shrunken headed friend, know nothing about boxing.
The style of teaching. American boxers are generally taught offense first where as Europeans are defense first. Old School boxers like B-Hop and Toney are noted for defense. Gyms in America today ignore some of the fundamentals of defense to supplement a more offensive minded game.
I may be missing something here: Who are all these great European defensive fighters of whom you speak?
I schooled you on Tunney, so I think I know a thing or two Seriously, because of one quote and a few ineffective clinches, you came out with "Tunney turned clenching into an artfrom", which was absolutely laughable, mate. He was THE heavyweight who pioneered the changed from a style reliant on heavy clinching, to footwork. His style set the standard for movers like Ali in years to come, yet you think he was a genius inside the clinch? He was good, like he was good at most things, but it's a nonsense example because it was such a small part of his abilities.
I don't deny that they are very, very skilled fighters. Even Dirrell, whose tactics against Froch, I thought, were terrible to watch. I don't deny their skills one bit. I'm just thinking about the recent change in style, of the stereotypical American boxer.
what about freakin Froch's tactics...Picking him up and droppin him cuz he was frusturated cuz he was getting outboxed.... FROCH HAS SOME OF THE WORST TACTICS IN THE GAME WITH THE WAY HE FIGHTS... NO WONDER HIS COUNTRYMEN DON'T RESPECT HIM VERY MUCH:deal
Froch's tactics were rough, yeah, but that style of fighting is typical over here. You can watch Friday Fight Nights and see rough fights week in, week out. Our elite boxers in recent haven't always been the cleanest. Hatton, Benn, Haye, Calzaghe etc., have all shown that they are happy to fight rough and bend rules. The stereotypical British fighter, fights dirtier than the American's but I just think that the days of the stereotypical American being flashy, smooth, skillful and clean, are looking distant.
