Haha. Where are all the trolls telling us usyk can't punch. He hurt joshua even with single punches. He really hurt chisora in the 7th or 8th round. So he is not a big puncher, but he has enough pop to keep his opponents honest and knock them out if needed
I've tried to stop errr trolling the AJ fans but this is a fair point. All that "too big, too strong" stuff was just a myth, Usyk always punched hard enough hurt AJ and AJ isn't this "Prime Mike Tyson" power puncher that some will have you believe.. Usyk got hit with a few straight right hands and didn't wobble, didn't buckle and didn't stop coming forward. anyway, AJ isn't blessed with a granite jaw, it's OK but not great, any man over 6 foot and 16 stone is a danger to AJ. Also, The only fighter I saw visibly hurt in the fight was AJ, multiple times and this has been white washed with "Usyk felt those body shots", "Usyk was hurt a few times" while ignoring the fact AJ was buzzed to his boots in the 3rd and out on his feet in the last minute of the fight.
I don't think people understand that ALL guys who weight 220 pounds or more can hurt others with punches. I can't understand those comments "till this day"
The casual take on 'power' is so bad. People seem to think boxing is a game of Top Trumps or whatever, where each boxer has some predefined power 'stat' which tells you who they can beat. Usyk, too, seemed to be thoroughly confused whenever people quizzed him about 'his power', 'Joshua's power', in interviews. If you're a well-trained boxer, good technique, you sit on your punches, you land flush and accurate: you hit hard.
He has no power Fury will let him hit him clean and tell him "you can quit on your stool or im coming after you" I'm here to do demolition jobs on cruiserweights
He doesn't have one punch KO power but he can rock someone and finish them off with an accumulation of punches.
He has ENOUGH power. Even an average heavyweight can hit hard enough to give pause, and if that average powered heavyweight always seems to walk you onto his punches and zip through the guard with shots that you cannot see, he's going to seperate you from your senses.
I still feel that a very good big fighter beats a very good small fighter. Usyk was simply on another level compared to Joshua. Had he possessed some serious pop Joshua would have been finished very early in that fight.
If a 220 pound man knows how to throw a punch it's enough to hurt anyone. He clearly would have knocked out AJ if it was in the days of the 15 rounder but the fact that he couldnt drop him at all after landing that many clean left hands pretty much confirms he doesn't have a whole lot of punching power
Rocking Joshua doesn't qualify as evidence you hit that hard nowdays. He seems to have acquired the punch resistance of Cuevas after he was ko'ed by Hearns.
