I think he's always likely to land a game changing punch in any fight. Technically he looked appaling in there tonight and was flat out refusing to throw at times. But that power makes him a certified threat against anyone.

Someone's getting brutally KO'd to the point they'll never be the same fighter afterwards is my honest opinion.

He simply didn't get hit hard enough for it to show.

Ortiz is a known puncher, back them up with coming in heavier and yes he is sure to do damage if he lands.

Tyson fury does have decent power. That's why he has made fighters quit on their stool and has 18 knockouts to his name. However more often than not he chooses to box his way to victory rather than sit on his punches

Talk about gifts and silly excuses all you want, it's clear you can't be objective when discussing Wilder and have no respect for the sport which you clearly know little about.

Yeah you have a good opinion , but don't forget Mike Tyson and many more also had great power and way better skills than Wilder and still were stopped at some point of their careers. Wilder tries to be attractive and tries to sell, but he doesn't know how to use his advantages well in the fights. Ortiz is not an easy guy, but the age factor was deciding. Looked slow and couldn't pull the triger in the seventh. I've never rated Ortiz that high, in my opinion he was always badly overrated and wrongly considered as the boogeyman of the division. Well who would fight an awkward southpaw, twice banned for peds, not famous at all and who brings 0 profit? It doesn't worth it.

He'll start like that against Joshua too - but Joshua will end him before he gets the chance to wait on him gassing, which seems to constantly be his strategy. He makes too many elementary mistakes for someone with Joshua's attributes not to take advantage of. Parker is a bigger threat to Joshua than Wilder, IMO.

Ortiz emptied the tank trying to put Wilder away. He really should have stepped on him next round but was gassed out.

Wilder showed heart and crazy power yes, but his chin is still there to be broken IMO. Ortiz was one punch away from having him out of there. AJ smokes him, Fury dances rings round him.

Credit for the win but please don't start shouting how great you are/AJ is scared etc, we expected you to win.

Dave Allen was hit cleaner, harder and more often and didn't go down against Ortiz.

So before Wilder fans start losing their minds, Ortiz hits hard but he isn't an amazing puncher.

    What?

You just claimed that AJ spat out his guard because he wanted to buy time.
But when Wilder gets a break for free, it is claimed as a 'gift' and 'silly excuses'.

    Now, who can't be objective?

I had Wilder winning the fight in the prediction thread.
He performed below what I expected and was gifted in multiple ways against a much lesser opponent.

Ortiz let him off the hook, just like Klistchko did with Joshua.

I agree but if we're honest, many of the heavyweights of today barely hold a candle to the ones of the past. Many struggle to get through 12 rounds( with the exception of Tyson Fury), compared to past greats who had the durability as well as being great boxers and punchers that were able to coast through 12 rounds and if we go even further back, 15 rounds.

However we can't hold that against them. Every fighter in this generation have their strength and weaknesss. Joshua was severe stamina issues, Wilder boxing skills, Fury discipline etc.

Are we going to dwell on their weaknesses and withhold credit from what they do well?

Yes Ortiz tired in the later round, but who else was Wilder to fight that was available and credible? I believe it was worth it just for the reputation Ortiz brings and many before Wilder signed to fight him, we'd see comments such as ;Wilder is ducking Ortiz'', 'Wilder's chin will fold as soon as Ortiz detonates on it'' blah blah blah. Now he's done the job the story changes to him being an old man and ''wait until Wilder fights a younger opponent''.

It just gets boring and childish.

I don't think that is what is happening. He gets credit for beating a rather mediocre fighter. It was a good win for Wilder, but to say Joshua does not hit harder than Ortiz and is not a better fighter would be false. Joshua landing on Wilder as clean as Ortiz did I think he knocks out Wilder I think this fight showed us what will happen when they fight. Wilder will be knocked out Joshua. Size is the key and punching power. But yes, Wilder has good heart. I give him credit for that.

Fury has a lot more weaknesses than discipline.
