What are you on about? It's clear that he made an adjustment during the fight. He had to throw the straight, determine it wasn't going to work then throw it with an arc. Even if was a strategy it still had to be implemented and tested. Adaptation. If the arc didn't work he would have done something different.

Im interested in seeing how Canelo deals with Floyds boxing straight right, speed, movement and defense. I'm also interested in seeing how Floyd adapts to Canelo's combination punching.

I'm sure he will be able to adapt or he has a strategy for Canelo. We really don't know if Canelo is his most formidable opponent yet.

It seems as though you think canelo will take away the jab, and that will win him the fight.

Also, if Floyd is not an adaptive fighter, but rather just a master strategist, do you not think he will have a strategy for Canelo?

You're putting words in my mouth. I never said Floyd was not adaptable.

I said in this particular scenario, I believe the jab, right hook was part of his game plan.

I'm not at Floyd's level, yet I figured he would throw a jab, right hook, considering Cotto's stance and guard.

So if I can think of it, what makes you think Floyd can't?

From what I remember, he fired that shot relatively early in the fight. He knew that he could bring Cotto's guard out, so he needed to fire shots around the guard.

I believe it was part of his strategy. Don't tell me you buy the story that Floyd doesn't watch his opponents.

Only a fool would neglect to watch his opponents fight.

Actually, he threw his straight early, but adapted I think the 2nd or 3rd rd. Of course, he watches tapes, he just says he doesn't to add to his demigod like aura. If all fighters watch tape, then all fighters are strategist, and no fighters adapt...?

Anyway, I think it should be a good fight. I just don't see Canelo pulling it off. Mayweather's toughest fight out there is Pacquiao IMO.

I think Mayweather actually said himself that before the fight, he noticed that Cotto was vulnerable to looping rights (as well as the left uppercut). He cited Cotto's fight with Mosley as evidence.
