You gentlemen have a strange perspective on boxing skills while I agree ggg defeats cotto it won't be be because he's more skilled ggg does almost nothing better than cotto though certain aspects are on par overall cotto is much more versatile....ggg is awesome no doubt but better skilled not likely

Where were those skills when he was being walked down by Margarito and outboxed by Manny, Floyd, Trout, Clottey and Mosley. Cotto's skills are vastly overrated on this site. GGG does many things better than Cotto, cutting off the ring for one.

Cotton is infinitely more skilled than Bummyluvkin despite being a shopworn midget. You can't really compare the two. Cotton even beat Bummy's best opponent in more impressive fashion.

Cotton's punch resistance is just completely gone from getting beat up by bricks for 10 rounds straight. No man would be the same after..

This is why it's hard betting on him, he's still never recovered from that beating. He has a chance to get knocked out in every fight. Even Mayweather at 154 with pillow gloves had Cotton shook and off his feet. :patsch

Cotto has skills but they are what you are being taught by any good trainer. Golovkin does some things his own way. Not that he is the only one who does some of those things, but there aren't many. As some mentioned, he is in a league of his own.

So, yes, you can't compare the two. Cotto is a handyman, while Golovkin is an artist.

When GGG fight's a Pacquiao, Mayweather,Mosley ect... Then you can make that discussion.

It takes more skills to compete with elite fighters, than it does to stop a journeymen.

Golovkin wanted Mayweather at 154, but Floyd's daddy said that he wouldn't fight the "damn giant". Clearly, they understand who is more dangerous, Golovkin or Cotto.

Ggg is a much better counterpuncher and cuts the ring off much better too. Ggg also throws punches from angles not many throw either.

GTFOH going by that logical he also said Jr wins as well.

Cotto was a HOFer a big money fight and is one of the best of this era. GGG is a hypejob with no relevant wins. Mayweather has shown more b@lls than GGG if Golovkin actually had done something noteworthy he may have gotten the fight.

The funny thing is Floyd and his team has more confidence to move from WW to MW and win vs GGG. Than GGG and his team do moving up once to face Ward.

Finally everyone wants Floyd because of money.

Cotto has skills for 7 rounds. After that the wheels start to come off and he goes into tactical retreat for rounds 8-10 and ends up taking a knee by round 11.

GGG's style is all wrong for Cotto, and cotto is really a WW, and LMW at best. The guy fought at 153 against Geale, if Margarito's pressure got to Cotto, GGG's will. So even if he does beat Canelo he is not the clear favorite.

i dont know if you're agreeing with me or insulting me for saying that my opinion is fact, but like I've said many times before, if other people say Cotto is the "favorite", going into the ggg fight after a Canelo win I'll respect their opinion. to me ggg destroys cotto easy even if cotto knocks out pacquiao, floyd, and Canelo, but cotto's opposition has been a million times better than ggg's, due to that I'm not demanding people to think my way.

I wonder if Canelo will try and apply more pressure on Cotto than what he has done in other fights? Canelo applies pressure in spurts then he takes a break.

Great win but he really needs to drop the catch weights. Of course this one was probably just as much Canelo wanting the catch weight for the fight. After this fight he needs to fight the full 160 limit.
