With Canelo-GGG being the newest most talked about fight, as usual its a lot of opinions back an forth on who wins or who is ducking who. My question isn't regarding the result but mainly the circumstances for making the fight, Golovkin has officially been WBC Mando since the Rubio fight at the end of 14". Since then he's agreed to step aside his place vs Cotto in favor of Geale then again for Canelo, after the Canelo-Cotto fight GGG again stepped aside which so far has cause an uproar mainly against Canelo. As a fan if Golovkin again steps aside in Sept, would you still fully support that decision or at that point should more onus be put on him to push for fights?
The blame is shared. Oscar proposed a step aside and Golovkin agreed. After the Khan fight he needs to enforce his mandatory. Put the spotlight on Canelo.
:good Canelo is going to drop the title and fight Pacquiao if Manny beats Bradley. I promise this will happen. They have been dropping clues for months now.
I think a Bradley fight is possible should he win unfortunately, I don't see Manny taking that fight though bad style and age is a big factor.
I'm not looking to play the blame game just opinions on a very possible scenario, Golovkin has agreed to step aside 3/4 times already right now because of Canelos statements most of the flack is on him. After all the talk of September fight being agreed on, if he again bypasses his shot would and should more onus be put on him for fights being made?
All joking aside. K2 and GGG take step aside because they hope that one of those 3, Martinez, Cotto, Canelo would make a super fight with him. He is what Mike McCallum was to the Fab 4. They have all fought each other and kept him out.
GGG was never mandatory for Martinez as far as Cotto and Alvarez, wouldn't the best way to make the fight be to push for it instead of easily stepping aside each time.
I already think that stepping aside was pretty lame, I know they don't want to risk it but come on, you can't allow yourself to be a doormat to these guys in hopes of a payday, force the issue and see what happens. To be honest, I already am not as a big a fan of GGG as I once was, maybe he's 4th or 5th now at the most. Although GGG's not entirely to blame for his opponents, they're also going a bit too risk-free for my liking.
:admin Wow I thought I would never hear anyone say that around here. He is going by the formula, biggest money for the easiest fight. When you look at it outside of being a fan you see the truth. It's getting re****ed in boxing. People blame Floyd but look at his last 8 opponents and what they did before fighting him. It's like a movie. Now look at every other fighter in boxing and see who was fighting guys coming off spectacular wins. (Not the Berto fight though. Josesito almost won that ****.)
GGG can't fight 2 Dominic Wade type of nobodies back to back. Unless he gets BJS in the ring, which isn't too far off, he will have to force his mandatory vs Canelo. Canelo has no opponent left either. He can't drag another welterweight to 155. So yeah. What BJS (or Frank Warren) will do is the key here.
I will personally be quite disappointed if GGG doesn't demand a title fight against whoever is champion. It's way overdue.
