I would call him stupid, because that would probably mean he'll never get the fight and not even the belt in that case either.
The WBC already were saying that one would be stripped if the fight wouldn't get made after, and if he steps aside I'm almost certain they'd have no shame in stripping GGG from the interim instead of Canelo like they should.

If WBC refuse to let him fight at 160, then I'd say screw it, step aside and throw the interim belt in the trash. If they OK it but he then accepts step aside money then I'll lose a lot of respect for him. Can't see a reason for that to happen again though

Golovkin wants the fight at the middleweight limit 160 which it should be. If El Pollo refuses that AGAIN!!!! He should be stripped But don't expect the WBC to keep their word & do it. Theyre more crooked than a corkscrew. Not Gennady's fault theyre all scared to fight him

"his fans continue to make excuses for him and point the finger at someone else"

Yo Paddy and C.J. the WBC has been said they don't care about Catch weights as long as its 160 or under, the weight thing is irrelevant if he really wants the title all he has to do is push for it.

Which is the point of the thread question, all the talk about stipulations wouldn't be there if GGG actually forced the issue.

That's cool, I have seen them say that on Twitter a lot I just hope they stick to their guns that's all.

Throughout the whole process they've really said the same thing, if fighters can't agree to terms mandatory rules apply everyone is up in arms against everybody but the only one who has say is GGG and so far his decision is step aside and let others fight for the title.

Yeah, kinda given him a pass over the last year or so since either Canelo or Cotto would have been by far the biggest and richest fight available, but Loeffler and team GGG will just look like chumps if they keep accepting step-asides.

Personally I don't even think that - as a fight in itself as opposed to the scale of the event - GGG vs Canelo is all that interesting and would rather GGG was already looking to the SMW division although there's nothing to say he'll have more success at landing opponents there.

That said, I'm not big on criticising boxers for making financially motivated choices - I might want them to fight the most challenging fights available and test their limits every time out, but then I ain't the one who has to pay their bills for the next 30 years.

I'm assuming GGG wants to fight the name and get the title. Forcing the issue either with Cotto or Canelo may have got him the strap but would not have got him the name - at least that's my reading of the situation. Effectively Oscar and Roc said to Loeffler 'yeah ... we ain't fighting your guy next, but maybe... if you let us keep the belt ... we'll fight you later.'

I think Loeffler is being played here, but up to this point you can't really blame him for negotiating in good faith - if he was to accept another step aside though, it would look bad.

True enough but I think the most feared stuff and stepping aside don't really coincide with each other.

Cotto & Canelo are called scared the WBC crocked, because another fighter doesn't want to enforce his mandatory the two don't really add up.

I think this thing may happen again but with a contractual agreement that GGG vs Canelo fight to happen next year in May. The question is at what weight ?

I will be very disspointed in Golovkin and K2 if they did, the way I saw it they always knew the WBC and GBP would be a nightmare to have to work with in getting this fight going so expected this to take some time, they have worn out all GBP,s bull**** and favours and excuses and allowed them 2 ducks all to lead to where we are now. No to 155 and yes we do want to face Canelo now please and no we wont step aside.

The WBC and GBP may well have an ace up thier sleeves, a curve ball that somehow excuses them once again but i really dont know what that could be but i wouldnt put it past them. But then thats just hard luck on GGG who lost the battle of chess that has been going on.

But if they step aside for no real reason for a 3rd time it just means everything ive just typed which is what ive believed for the last 2 years it just a load of bollox
