Ali climbed the mountain when he knocked the believed to be invincible George Foreman the ----- out.. He was 45-2 with no unavenged defeats with wins over two consensus top ten heavyweight all-time greats and one bubble top ten all time great. Anything after that was gravy

All the so-called gifts after that are all his detractors have to hang on to.

Oh, and Ali was about three years past his best by date when he knocked the monster the ----- out.

I am going with Muhammad Ali by a very close decision win over Larry Holmes here, possibly split or majority.

In 1976 it is a coin toss, with a slight advantage for Ali.

Later on it is increasingly Larry the one with the upper hand, and as we all know by the end of the decade Larry had all the cards.
