Yes it is quite a mess in the heavyweight division. Klitchko postpones title fights several times and Sam Peter gets babied all the was to a title. Really neither of these fighters deserve to be anywhere near a belt.

Peter bottom feeds his way to a eliminator and gets embarrassed in a fight where he manages to foul his opponent to the canvas 3 times. Then by some weird system he manages another eliminator in which he gets embarrassed again. This time by a very old and very fat middleweight. Somehow in a fight that was very easy to score peter wins 4 or 5 rds he had no business winning for a very shaky win. The fix was so obvious they were made to do it again. So the ancient middleweight has to do it one more time for the sake of a underachieving overweight contender half his age who could not be competitive the first time. Yahoo Peter finally wins one for shot at a belt. Forget the shot they just mail him some shaky version of the title. Now the WBC has two champions and another four years out of the game.

Now Peter is closing in on the real champion Maskaev. Most contenders would be happy to have that shot. But Peter is unhappy. So the WBC gives him a special deal. He gets to fight in the venue of his choice bringing his own ref and for a special split that costs the real champion a million or so dollars. Now the WBC poster African poster boy finally gets his foul filled win holding hands all the way with Don Kings WBC.

Everyone seems for some reason to think Samuel is in horrible condition, In fact from what i was being told by Cornelius Boza Edwards is that Samuel is in the region of 250 at the moment and is quite mobile and sharp in sparring..

I think you are right. This is a big money fight for Peter and if he wins he can get more money by fighting Wladimir Klitschko.
