This Floyd is one I really respect. At LHW even at HW he had very good pop, speed, and that peek a boo defense. Either RJJ outboxes him with speed alone or Patterson knocks him the **** out. I love RJJ, but prime Patterson I think would be a safer bet. This aint no John Ruiz.

Man he was on fire in the Johanssen rematch. He knew the peek a boo style worked best opponents that just stay in front of you, but he used some waist movement and bobbing and weaving to beat Johanssen. Alittle bit of what Cus D'Amato would later show a future pupil of his.

I think Jones was still in his prime when he beat John Ruiz. He weighed in at 193. Patterson was at his best when he beat Ingemar Johansson. To regain the heavyweight championship of the world. Patterson was 190 for that fight. Jones also has a three inch reach advantage over Patterson. In other words. Jones would be the bigger man. It is hard to tell what kind of power Jones has at heavyweight. Ruiz makes it hard to look good against him. I think Patterson's power is underrated but I think Jones is going to be too fast, and will be able to avoid Patterson's best shots. I think Jones will show some respect for Paterson's power and take mimanal risk. Therefore not gettng a stoppage but a decision win.

Patterson has comparable handspeed to Roy Jones Jr, and throws in combination which is going to make it hard for Jones to be as elusive. I don't see the size disparity being much of a factor considering Patterson typically stayed in a crouching position whilst on the offensive anyway. In regards to punching power, Jones has enough power to hurt Patterson, that much is sure, but Patterson routinely laid guys out with his left hook. He'd be considered a big hitter at 175lbs in my estimation.

I don't see many fighters in history out-boxing Jones Jr, and I don't think Floyd Patterson would either, but I'd favor him to possess all of the tools required to land on Jones, and I'm not confident in the man's ability to absorb a good shot.

I could see Roy outbox Floyd Patterson with Floyd's defense and footwork.
