What Happens To Pavliks Career If He Loses?

Plain and simple put Pavlik is "****ED" if he were to lose tomorrow night.

 

Personally I think that if Pavlik loses to a guy like Martinez, he should seriously consider retirement.

However, A couple main events on Top Rank Live, and then a title shot or eliminator at 168 would be more likely.

he won't be champ anymore, but would most likely get a rematch or keep fighting. losing to sergio martinez certainly does not make you a bum. is pavlik even the favorite in this fight? i'm sure he is, but it can't be by much. this is definitely a pick 'em fight if you ask me.

 

someone please tell me a guy that started off as welter, never did **** a junior middle and has had 1 fight a middle....how the **** would he be a favorite much less allowed to be fighting for a title at 160?

The division is in poor shape right now. Part of the reason it is in poor shape is because Taylor, Pavlik, Abraham, and to an extent, Miranda cleared it out. Taylor logged two wins over the dominate champ. Pavlik and Abraham beat all the other prospects and contenders that were worth a ****, Pavlik beat Taylor, and Abraham moved up.

The division is stacked with talented young guns on the way up. If Pavlik can't beat Martinez, he can't survive the coming onslaught, and he sure as **** won't do anything at 168.

 

Wouldn't Sergio Martinez be recognized as the best 60 pounder if Pavlik loses?

He retires with more money then you'll see in your lifetime.

 

It wouldnt be the end for Pavlik at all if he lost this fight. It would be his only loss at MW. Id imagine some doors might even open for him, like fights with some of the other belt holders as he has a name that sells, or he could probably move up to SMW and get an oppotunity.
