When someone wins a belt, what happens to the actual belt that the former champ wore into the ring?

Does the ref take it from their corner and just give it to the new corner and that's that?

Is it sent off to be fitted or something?

    Anyone knwo?

I have often wondered not only your question, but do champs get to keep all their belts forever if they didn't lose it in the ring?? Look at all them damn belts Floyd brought on stage during the Hatton weigh in, it was borderline ridiculous. I wonder because he still obviously has all his, but there are obviously WBC champs in the weight divisions he left behind??

I think they give back the real belts and they get replacement former champ belts. Looter who owns the gym I train has his belts he won hanging up but hasent faught in years.

De la Hoya is also in the WBC belt. The fighter doesn't choose.
