    Watson v Benn?

Benn was undefeated at the time and Watson took him to school. People tend to forget about that one.

    Benn vs the G-man.

I remember watching it as a kid and thinking 'wow'

    Alright smartarses :patsch

Danny Williams over Tyson was a feat to behold - Williams, the mental midget against the most feared HW of an era - and Danny somehow overcame his fears and took a beating early on to expose the feared man's own frailties - Tyson never liked getting hit back.

My mistake, should have included that.

My own choice would be Benn-McClennan followed very closely by Hatton-Tszyu. Took me a long time to decide between those two.

Lewis Vs. Golota for me, the fight was pretty much evens and Lewis effectively finished him in sixty seconds, without even taking a punch.

Benn - McClellan without a doubt. Its the only fight that I physically shook watching it....pure drama and brutality from start to finish.

Benn v McClellan just shades it over Hatton v Tszyu

Benn v McLellan just edging out Calzaghe v Lacy.

Most people were expecting to see Benn get KO'd and he nearly did in the first round. Showed unbelievable courage and desire to come through and win that fight he gave absolutely everything.

Benn over McClellan and Hatton over Tszyu are tied for second, because number one has to be Lewis beating Briggs.

Do not get me wrong, it was not Lewis' best win, but to be the first Brit for 100 years to win the biggest prize in sports and become THE Heavyweight Champion of the World, meant IMO it is the greatest performance by a Brit in the last 20 years.

    Greatest performance.

Then how can you justify it being Benns performance vs the G-man? He was nearly ko'd in the first and only won due to McClellans head injury (caused by a head clash as nigel leaped in with a hook).

Think people are confusing greatest win with best performance.

Calzaghe vs Lacy was a perfect performance.

Honeyghan (rightly) did, has and will continue to get a lot of credit for that win, but it is not context of the title of the thread, as it happened over 20 years ago.

In terms of the size of the occasion and rising to it - Lewis - Holyfield

But in terms of performance in the broader sense of the word (i.e not in the pure boxing sense) then it has to be Benn - McClellan. it was one of those occasions you dont think someone could ever repeat nor should they have to go through ever again (nor want to) and that few others would be capable of. (and that's before even considering the grim consequences of the fight).

You have to take into account the magnitude of the fight and meaning.

Nigel Benn vs Chris Eubank I..

    was like..

    Seb Coe Vs Steve Ovett..

Demanded the nations attention and everyone had a say on it. Them days of boxing and sport are very rare......

I voted for Chris Eubank wining against Nigel Benn..

I was only a kid, and i have images in my head of that fight. My dad's reaction and the News..
