What has happened to African American / black boxers?

Look the facts are undeniable. The soviet union fell in 1991 and our boxers began competing on the prize ring and rapidly after that the heavyweight division and others produced an array of good fighters that began to dominate. Afro-Americans didn't suddenly evaporate and seize to exist and compete in boxing.

Idolizing legends of the past will do nothing, they looked great and did well against their opposition at the time which included bums and good fighters as every era does. But do not idolize them. A result like Wlad KO'ing Ali would not surprise me, although he would likely loose to foreman and Tyson. Vitali would beat either on points though in my opinion. Just don't make idols out of men, these guys did not bend over and have lighting shoot out of their ass.

Why people think they are so tough is beyond me. They have been conquered and subjugated throughout history.

 

are we to believe that then Arreola, Chambers, Byrd, Brewster etc. would have been ATGs in any other era? the fuk you babbling about? there has been a severe decline in the amateurs as well for American boxers, it's not surprising that this translates to the pro game.

 

Another dirty little truth about Black fighters is that they are notoriously the bigest abusers of PED's.

Your boxers are awful and singlehandedly destroyed a once proud division. The Soviet Union didnt produce any great boxers in the amatuers. They were allowed to compete and regularly got destroyed by their American counterparts. Where are all the Eastern European gold medals at the olympics in boxing?

The talent pool in the bigger weight classes evaported. BEcause if you are 6'5 230, you have a better chance making the NFL then being an elite boxer. The other weight classes are full of young promising African-American fighters who are doing well in keeping your ilk from ruining boxing completely.

We idolize the past because they gave us great fights. If Joe Louis, Marciano, Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Holyfield, Tyson ect fought like Wlad, boxing would have died a long time ago. Because they fought with heart, skill and desire, because they werent robots who were afraid to get hit, because they gave us nights like Thrilla n Manilla. We love them. The klitskcos are the bane of boxing. Floyd Mayweather dishes out more excitement in a round the Klits have don their entire careers.

He could barely land flush on David Haye, who's been stopped. Yet he is going to stop an iron jawed Ali with 10X's the defense, speed and strenght. You dont know **** about boxing. sounds like the only thing that happened when the iron curtain fell was you put in a boxing tape.

We are talking about how Europeans have ruined boxing. Not about how Europeans have ruined civilizations. that is for another thread.

 

They didn't destroy it, they just competed and won. Can't blame them for that much. And until the day comes when American heavies can compete then and only then can you make any assumptions, until that day comes don't run your trap and watch as every combat sport be it MMA or Boxing will have fighters from the soviet bloc achieving great results if not dominating.

 

Afro/African American do not rule boxing anymore because kids are growing up wanting to be Kobe, LeBron, Vick, Peterson.

Boxing takes a lot of skill and time while basketball and football is not as difficult. I am speaking from experience I box and played Basketball in Juco and played Football in high school all state. Boxing is a lifestyle you can not eat everything you want and you can not drink, smoke, and have sex with girls etc but in Bball and football it doesn't matter.

Another reason is that many great trainers are not around anymore the good ones are getting paid a lot of money and do not want to waste there time with some ghetto kids who may have the goods but rather act like a dumb ass. When I box I trained in the Pal and learned different styles like the Philly shell or what you guys call the Mayweather defense. Kids don't even know how to counter a jab anymore they just think its about getting the KO's.

Euro's have a different state of mind they are more discipline and focus on the task at hand!!!

 

The division is boring, producing awful fights after awful fights. You are just deluded because of your nationalistic bias. This division is the worst in boxing.


As I said, why werent these awesome soviets winning gold medals at the olympics? Why were they getting beat down by their american counterparts?

Out of all the divisions and fighters in boxing. There are only 2 that you could legitly call good from the Soviet Bloc. Those are the Klitsckos.

Name me one fighter below heavyweight from the former Soviet Bloc that isnt a B level fighter at best. Name one fighter thats accomplished any sort of great feat.
