What has happened to David Haye?

Whether you like it or not is immaterial. It's how it works. There's nothing to disagree with.

Some fighters are motivated by glory/pride/adulation more than by money. But fighters like Haye are motivated by money first and foremost. There's nothing to like or dislike. It's how he is. And given that it is like this, it makes sense for him to play it the way he does. It's rational.

But in the end, who gives a **** what he is motivated by as long as he puts in great performances against top fighters? And if he doesn't, well, just find someone else to float your boat.

If money is corrupting him surely the way to make the most money is to fight the Klitschkos in two mega fights. Fights with the Klitschkos, first a Vitali fight and then a unification showdown between himself and Wlad on ppv with the world watching, would have net him far more than his fights with Ruiz and Harrison.
Forget all this **** about him being happy to fight guys like Audley for the money, he took that fight because it was easy. He chose to call the Klitschkos out when he moved up because it was easier than working for a title shot. He fought Ruiz instead of Wlad because that was the easiest option.

Haye stopped looking for challenges once he moved up to heavyweight and realised that he was no longer the bigger man in the ring who can bully his opponents, he is a small hw with a weak chin and poor defense who was knocked down by the super middleweight Lolenga Mock who has a 28% ko rate. In short, he got a reality check. He won't fight the Klitschkos because he thinks he can't win, no amount of excuses about money, contracts, tv money or any of that other crap will convince me otherwise.

It doesn't matter whether he can beat them or not. What matters is that he gets to fight one after the other and maximise the total profits made in the two fights. For this to happen, he probably has to win the first fight, but not necessarily. If he negotiates a great deal for the first fight and makes it really exciting in the ring, maybe he can maximise profits over the two fights even if he loses both. BUT... he has to make sure that he gets the best deal he can in the first fight, because chances are he will lose, and if he loses badly, there's no guarantee of a second fight. So negotiations are CRUCIAL.

 

I gave you an example of a fighter who proved that you don't have to be a **** to become wealthy in boxing though, and you ignored me. So there is something to dislike, and I do, as I have already said. Basically all it comes down to is that in our country, boxing is not a big sport, and people don't have love for it on the level of other places. Our public's mentality towards boxing on the whole sucks ****.

 

Let me spell it out.

David Haye is English. The English love money and power.

Trinidad is not English. He comes from a country where people love pride and glory and adulation more than money and power. Of course, if you are successful, you will likely get both.

Haye has to take the public available to him as it is too! He might want it to be different, but it isn't, and he has to make the best of it.

 

Haye has sniffed the money at heavyweight and it has completely changed him. It happens to many fighters. Bradley was a man to be admired until he made a bit of money and then he would hold out for even more and duck fights. Some guys hold out for money and it ruins their bank balance i.e. JMM and Wright. Haye has a good PPV contract so whoever he fights, if it sells well then he earns well.

 

You didn't need to spell it out to me as I already clearly explained and highlighted it. And for some reason you're not getting the simple fact that I'm not fond of the whole thing, that's all my posting in this thread entails really. Nothing hard to understand.

Why should I care whether you are fond of the whole thing or not? How does the way you feel change anything?

What he cares about is how many people will buy his PPVs. What he tries to do is to maximise that number.:good

Of course it does! If David Haye had any faith in his abilities to beat the Klitschkos he would have fought them after the Valuev fight. That's where the real money is. A no options 50-50 deal has been on the table for him since then so his excuses about negotiations is a smoke screen. He's never going to get them to agree to anything but 50-50 so all this talk about contracts and Boothe clowning himself on Ringside with his stalling tactics tell me all I need to know about Haye lack of confidence in taking these fights. A fighter who knows he has the beatings of the top 2 men in his division is not going to turn down every opportunity to fight them.

David Haye has dedicated to a tough sport from a very young age, and has always been a true competitor. He took his big risks and Crusierweight, fighting Carl Thompson in his 11th fight which was a risks...........David Haye got beat down, but he still wasn't assed and took the positives from that fight.

Going to Jean Mormeck's back Garden in france, and taking him on. Was a risk, and he got off the Canvas to spark Jean Mormeck out.

I feel now, that David Haye believes he has earned his chance to milk the limelight and money. And lets not forget, when he came up from Crusierweight to Heavyweight for the second time, Monte Barret was no........"NO MARK"

That was a risky fight in my opinion.

I think guys like Adamek, and Chagaev are boring people, and boring fighters. That have no swagger, and are just totally boring.

before david haye came along who liked the klitschkos as boxers,entertainers and as businessmen and as people in general?.

who thinks heavyweight boxing is more boring with haye in it now.

you cant claim that of late klitschkos have faced/are facing people much better than haye has faced,even though hes not long been in the division.
