Just take a look at his record against other greats who were close to his own age.

Lennox Lewis - 5 wins, 0 losses (beat Bowe, Holyfield x2, Tyson, Vitali).

Plus he won a bonus gold medal at the Olympics.

This stands up favourably to almost any former HW in history.

George Foreman - 3 wins, 1 loss (beat Frazier x2, Norton)
    Joe Frazier - 1 win, 4 losses
Larry Holmes - 1 win, 1 loss (I'm not including his win over Ali or his loss to Holyfield, probably a bit harsh on my part to count his defeat to Tyson, but we can discuss that)
Holyfield - 3 wins, 3 defeats (beat Bowe, Tyson x2)
Mike Tyson - 1 win, 3 defeats (generous of me to include his win over Holmes, very generous!)
Wladimir - 0 wins, 2 defeats - but did get a gold in the Olympics.
    Vitali - 0 wins, 1 defeat
AJ - 1 win, 0 defeats - plus gold at the Olympics
    Fury - 1 win, 0 defeats

Only really Ali has a comparable record to Lennox, with a record of 9 wins and two defeats (I'm not including the defeat to Holmes in that). And like Wlad, AJ and Lennox, he struck gold at the Olympics.

All I hear on these boards are excuses after excuses about why all these guys lost to Lennox Lewis, but the fact is his record against other greats is unblemished, he beat them all. That is a fact! And really, you can make excuses for every single guy who ever lost in history. It is who wins on the night that counts.

So start showing the man some respect. Without any question, he is the stand out boxer since the Ali era.

Lennox Lewis, you are England's rose!

Look, the guy was born in London, and all young people go through phases where they are trying to find some kind of identity, some become goths, some become rockers, some explore their sexuality, in Lennox's case he represented Canada. The point is he grew out of it!

Lennox was one of the best heavies ever. Easily top 10 and maybe even top 5.

I fail to see the lack of respect for Lewis. I'd say he's a lock for top 5 and you could put together a decent argument for him being #1 if you were so inclined.

Lewis was a great fighter, he did it all really in terms of proving himself. Coming back from losses like that is rare, his strength of mind was a massive attribute. he wasn't perfect but easily in the top 10.

Yes, he grew out of it, realized he was England's rose, and bought some luxurious property in Florida.

He spends his time there and in Jamaica, basking in the sun, looking at the white sands and blue seas, then closes his eyes and imagines himself back in those grassy green hills of Merry Olde England.

I rate him below Holyfield, below Foreman and Frazier, below Holmes, Louis and Ali, at the least.

    You can not be serious.

With the exception of Ali, Lewis beats all those guys, in fact he did beat one of those guys... twice! Ali/Lewis would be a tough fight for both of them, I wouldn't want to call that one. Over 3 fights, who knows?

I asked this question in another thread, but if I held a gun to your head and made you pick a winner between Lewis and each of those guys, you are not going to put your life on the line in the hope that Holyfield (who already lost twice), Holmes or Frazier are going to beat Lennox Lewis. I just know you wouldn't, not if you value your life.

Holmes I'd be most confident of winning.
Holmes looks a clear favourite to me.
