Let's then count win over Bowe for Jorge Luis Gonzalez, too. He beat Bowe far worse than Lennox.

Let's then count win Valeri Abajian's win over Lennox in 1987 when Abadjian knocked out Lewis in 3 rounds.

Let's count Dillian Whyte's win over Anthony Joshua in amateurs, too

Nah, same rules. The only thing that I can really say that I am salty with regards to Lewis about is the fact that he never rematched Vitali. And that when guys like Rahman and McCall gave him a chance to avenge his losses to them.

A fight both men took on short notice with exactly the same amout of preparation time in which Lewis took everything Vitali had to give and was not even knocked off his feet and then tore Vitali's face apart forcing a doctor's stoppage after 6 rounds.

Sorry, but there are people who have gone out with worse ends to thier careers than Lennox Lewis, and Vitali is one of them.

Promised to fight the winner of Haye/Chisora then weaseled his way out of it by claiming Haye chose to fight Chisora instead of him, looked terrible against Charr, sat inactive for 16 months, 9 of which he had a mandatory, twice put off accepting the mandatory purse bid before getting it suspended indefinitely by claiming to be injured, twice missed the deadline set to announce his future in boxing and only gave up the belt when the WBC offered him Emeritus status.

Lennox Lewis at least fought his mandatory before he retired, Lennox Lewis at least fought the guy considered his most dangerous potential opponent before retiring, Vitali avoided his mandatory for months on end and had his last fight against an unheard of opponent who had accomplished nothing to that point.

 

Vitali won the opening two rounds, he lost the 3rd, the judges were split on the 4th and 5th, Lewis won the 6th. By that stage in the fight Lewis was landing the more telling blows, Vitali didn't seem to be hurting Lewis anymore and ended the round desperately clinging to Lewis to prevent Lewis having any room to throw anything signficant.

So while it's technically true that Vitali was ahead on points it's also true to that the fight had been even for the last four rounds and Lewis was looking the stronger as the fight drew to a close.

If Lewis has a "stain" for "being liar" because he said he would fight Vitali then changed his mind then Vitali has a "stain" for "being liar" for saying he would rematch Byrd but never doing it, saying he would fight Rahman but never doing it, promising to fight the winner of Haye/Chisora but backing out of it, saying he would fight Stiverne but never doing it.

Do you hold Vitali to the same standard you're holding Lewis?

Regarding Lewis vs Vitali it's very true that Vitali was very hurt at the end of the final round. Watch with less than a minute to go in the round a right hook clips Vitali on the side of his head and he stumbles into Lewis across the ring. Lewis then ends the round with a Herculean right uppercut that snaps Vitali head backwards. This bout in my opinion was Lewis at his worst. He was sloppy and over anxious and looking at him physically he appeared soft. I was never a huge Lewis fan but no doubt a seriously trained and focused Lewis would have starched Vitali with his right hand. That opening was there all night, Lewis saw it but was sloppy and over anxious to land the haymaker.
