What has Marquez done to receive such a high rating?

I agree to a point but if pac is 1 than he has to be top 5 since I feel they basically split 24 rds

Having a healthy resume and about 100x more skill the the entire 'p4p' list with the exception of B.hop, calderon and his bro rafa.

Marquez is better than Pacman, but he can't stay on his feet. Still Marquez doesn't deserve to be number two. Calzaghe is undefeated, one of the best SMW ever if not they best, and currently the man at 175. Can Marquez say he is the man at any weight division? He did beat Casa and knock him out, but that's more wishy washy then any of Calzaghe's wins. Casa lost to Santa Cruz and some how walked a way with a victory. Casa would've lost to Katsidis if Katsidis could relax in the ring and not constantly walk into massive punches. Marquez finally finished the job Katsidis had already started!

JMM, as others have said, has gotten the benefit of moving up in weight well and making two fights with the consensus P4P #1 very debatable. His losses are devalued because the John fight was a robbery and the Norwood fight could have gone either way. From the lists I've seen though, there are some that have him as high as #2, but most have him as #3 or #4 P4P behind Pac and Calzaghe.

Pacman is a better fighter than Marquez, he keeps putting his ass on the canvas... The rest of the post I agree.

Lennox Lewis was smoked by McCall & Rahman but won the return matches. Dempsey KO'd Flynn in the 1st rd in the rematch, so what almost every top Heavy lost a fight and many by KO. The fact that they returned with a vengeance after these losses to overcome better opposition and regain the top spot shows their greatness.

if you think about it, take away the controversial losses to Norwood and Pacquiao and you can make the case that he's technically undefeated and therefore top p4p.

As for Marquez I think most knowledgable fight fans would not be asking this question. Marquez had 2 extremely close losses to P4P king Pacman (which many though he won including myself) . He has just won the lightweight crown by KOing the linear champion Joel Casamayor, he lost a controversial decision to Chris John the featherweight king, beat Marco Antonio Barrera, Rocky Juarez, and beat other past or future world title holders such as Agipto Sanchez, Alfred Kotey, Daniel Jiminez, Robbie Peden, Manuel Medina, Derrick Gainer, Orlando Salido.

My point was the guy was saying that Pac demolished MAB. It wasn't a demolishing. It was MAB running and butting with Pac chasing him around.

no if you take away those two losses, then he still has the loss to John and the loss in his pro debut.

and anyways he doesn't need to be "technically undefeated" to be top p4p. Undefeated is overrated.
