What has Marquez done to receive such a high rating?

1. beat MAB in a clear but close fight. barrera was still the 130 champion that time and was on an impressive consecutive win streak since he was smoked by pac 4 years back.
2. he totally dominated rocky juarez who gave barrios a hell of a fight.
3. he narrowly lost to the concensus #1 p4p boxer in manny pacquiao by SD and if he did get the nod, no one would complain.
4. he stopped casamayor, though is an old fighter, is still a good win since he was going up in weight.

 

Marquez is a great fighter, with good wins and some losses under his belt. There is no reason to have him above Calzaghe though; no one has figured out how to beat him.

 

Pac and JMM fought two competetive fights.

Pac moved up to Lightweight and defeated the weakest champion.

JMM moved up to lightweight and defeated the number 1 lightweight in Casamayor to pursue a rubber match with Pacquaio.

JMM deserves his ranking.

 

I'm through arguing with people about it......its only my opinion, but just look at the way the man throws combinations in those clips......
.....those are not slaps ( JC) .....those are beatifully thrown combination shots thrown with true leverage and power......imo, that and that JMM has a solid case to say that he could really be an undefeated fighter, is what makes him the best in the sport imo!

IMO it was a shallow win in the sense that the win was made on the twilight years of boxer.

For example - if pac happens to be with the same weight catergory with RJJ and he knock's out RJJ NOW. Oh Man?! Who would give him FULL Credit?! NO WAY!!!

 

thats ridiculous....1st off JMM was ALREADY #2 P4P, he wasn't "put" there after his win over Casamayor

and you can't compare shot ass Jones with Casamayor....seeing as Casa' was The Ring #1 LW and he was coming off a KO victory over Katsidis, not to mention Casa' had never been stopped before prior to his fight with Marquez

and besides theres only 2year age diffrence btwn. Marquez and Casamayor

Marqurz isn't exactly prime either,he is 35 and showing it slightly,he gets hit a lot more than before,his defense ain't that good now.

 

JMM rating is fine especially since I thought he won the second Pac fight. What I take exception with is the high rating of his brother Rafa M.
