What has more value in fans eyes, a Multidivision Champion ( like Pac ) or a complete Unified Champion with all 4 major World Belts? ( like Tyson in his days ) ???

    Opinions ? :good

I was thinking about this a lot lately and I prefer the Tyson route. Nobody can say you're ducking any body if you beat everybody in your division and once you do that, you can move up and maybe unify another division

Imagine the sanctioning fees for carrying all 4 major belts...

I think that a Unified World Champion, ( holding the WBC, WBA, WBO and IBF ) has more value than a multi-division World Champion because he has to defeat the other 3 World Champs in his weight class...

But the multi-division Champ has to defeat other Champions heavier than him ...

Depends on what opponents you've beaten really. Beating 3 average world title holders is not going to be as good as beatin say several world class fighters from 2-3-4 weight classes above you best weight.

So, who is the last World Champion to Unify all 4 World Belts? Anyone know ? I think Gamboa has a great chance at doing that !!!

well i think that mulit division champion in LHW CW and HW is more valueble then multidivison champion in those funny low categories. And LHW CW HW champion is equal/more valuable then unified champion.

BTW it all depends in route that you make. For example if in LHW you beat somemone like RJJ in CW like Holyfield and in HW like Klitchko then you are a ****ing beast::) Because all have different skills and other advantages and flaws

personally I like people who unify the divisions like Calzaghe, Hopkins etc.

but at the end of the day, if you win one of the ABC titles you will be classed as a world champion.

Jermain Taylor was the last fighter to have a truly unified (WBA/WBC/WBO/IBF) division after beating Bernard Hopkins, in 2005, following Bernard's actual unification of the middleweight division prior to that.

Well, I kind of like Unified, but with all the Bull**** title belts, sanctioning fees, etc..It doesn't happen anymore. These organizations make all these SUPER, and DIAMOND belts along with the regular ones, and won't let there fighters fight other beltholders, etc. So, it's kind of pointless these days.
SO, currently I'd go with multidivision with the way things are.

    depends how many divisions

2-3 seems irrelevant but 4 and above is significant

being a complete unified champ isnt too impressive either depending on the length of the reign and the competition of the other title holders. Juan Diaz held 3 belts from the lightweight division and would of beaten the 4th belt holder David Diaz if given the fight instead of Nate Campbell.

    Unified division champ.

P4P fighters never have a legacy at any particular weight. The biggest two examples, Pacquaio and Mayweather. Mayweather is a top 5 all time 130 pounder, and a top 20 147 pounder. However with Pacquiao, despite his record setting accomplishments and feats, would only crack a top 20 list at 130 pounds. Pacquiao's welterweight legacy is yet to be concluded, but I'd bet without defeating Mayweather there, he likely has no chance of making a top 20 at the weight.
