Wow, Hearns didn't half do an incredible job. He really has managed to get his fighters a number of undeserved, underdog fights. From a British perspective it is great to see a promoter willing to risk his fighters in almost certain losses but see the upside. However from a boxing perspective, fights like this should not be allowed unless they are last minute replacements etc. If there is at leasdt 4 weeks, it should be mandatory to go through the rankings and ask each fighter if they want the shot. If they don't, they should slip down the rankings. Boxing is purely money making, a sporting/competative architecture needs to be instilled for fights like this not to happen.

    This.

Agreed. It really is that simple.

    This.

I don't know why people are getting so pissy about this fight. Purdy is ranked number 4 with the IBF, because he he has won and defended their 'international' title. As with any organisation, winning and defending an intercontinental/international bauble will guarantee a high ranking. You could find dozens of active fighters who have inflated rankings. Purdy has just happened to benefit from Brook's injuries and Bizier's reluctance to fight at short notice.

It's boxing, get real mate. If you've followed the sport for any more than a few months you'll know fine half the guys who get shots did f/a to deserve them.

Anyway, Ricky Burns did nothing to deserve a shot, I said so at the time yet look at him now, proved all that to be nonsense really.

Brook should be really happy with this? Because hes still mandatory for the IBF Title. I know for a fact brook knows he can beat purdy with hes eyes closed.. If.. IF (its unlikely) but IF purdy lands a haymaker and takes the title.. Brooks got this title in september no matter what anyone says.

You say that, but i'm pretty sure there'd be a rematch clause set in place, so in the off chance that Purdy wins, he'll most likely have to do it all over again, with Alexanders terms and what not.
