.....They're both dis-respected by keyboard warriors who collectively couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag .:(

Thats a good un. I have had a go at mayweather in the past not due to is genius in the ring but is outside antics and making himself look like an arrogant twat.

That's the same reason people don't like Calzaghe.

Both kicked the **** out of every opponent they ever had, did so with exciting fight styles (Floyd when he was 130-135) and were the cream of the crop in their respective weight classes?

Mayweather is/was a once or twice a generation boxing talent. But he wore the WW crown (one of the most prestigious titles in all of sports), but never actually fought a top WW. I sincerely think that that's why boxing fans are so hard on him: he never fought Cotto, never fought Margarito, never fought Mosley. That, and he carries himself like a douche.

that....... and adapting, overcoming and endurance..

    and speed,

fighting at thier best, when it mattered most

moving up in weight and beating the ring champ

they truelly believe that, with the right preparation, they are unbeatable

they dominate in the late rounds

they break the will of their opponents

I'm not saying I agree with what's said here about him (I said, he's a once or twice a generation boxing talent: I don't think you can praise a fighter much more than that), but far and away his greatest public exposure came as WW champ, where he never fought any top fighters. And that is where all the animosity stems from. That, and he has a personality that can be antagonistic and obnoxious. Read the posts here the last few years. I don't think what I've said is an unfair assessment of sentiment among fans toward Floyd .
Btw, I watched Mayweather v Castillo 1 the other night. Mayweather clearly won that fight by two rounds. People need to put that debate to rest.

LOL. This is true. I used to really hate Calzaghe to, but have always been fan of Mayweather and that's b/c I knew from the beginning that he was the truth, but had never seen Calzaghe untill the Lacy fight. Thought that was a fluke and Lacey was maybe just overhyped, but he kept proving me wrong. At this point, all fans of boxing should at least appreciate his skills and accomplishments in this great sport.

At this point the same can and is already being said about Joe as Bad Chad seems to be Joe's Margarito. I, personally, would love to see him fight Chad as I would still love to see Floyd school Margaret, but these two really have nothing left to prove. They've done all that's required to be first ballot HOF'ers and both are the best of this generation. As a boxing fan though I wish daily that Joe will continue and Floyd will come back. They're the face of the game right now.

Calzaghe's going on 37 and really has no one of his stature left to fight. But Mayweather's young, was at or near his prime. He could have fought a whole range of guys, from Pac up to DLH. Just as a fan, I think it's a shame he bowed out. So many great fights were yet to be fought.

This WW stuff is nonsense. PBF beat the number one ww in Baldomir, then beat the previous linear champ in Zab.
At lww he didn't fight the best, but that became a moot point when he later destroyed hatton.
    PBF and Calzaghe both rock
