Are you for real? We lost the championship rounds so people wouldn't continue to lose there lives. It has **** all to do with time-slots.
I forgot that Zakman and Rico prefer to see someone get splattered rather than quit/have the towel thrown in.
The change to 12 rounds has been a boon to fighters who tend to be lazy with their training. If you have to go 15 round you have to get in better shape. So many fighters today run out of gas by the 6th round. That was not so common 30 years ago.
Winky Wright being middleweight champ OR not having enough energy to storm out of the ring after a decision against him?
I've always agreed with this. Exactly as IB says, it would take an EXTRA-ordinary occurence to end in a draw if the rounds are an odd #.
I've said before; I do love how people like you who've never been punched in the head are all for fights being made even more dangerous than they already are.
That's simply not true. There is no evidence that fighters are more likely to be killed or injured. In fact, according to an historical study done in 2007, deaths were MORE likely to occur in earlier rounds!! " This content is protected " http://ejmas.com/jcs/jcsart_svinth_a_0700.htm It is an UTTER fallacy that 15 round fights are somehow more dangerous than 12 round fights. And the boxing establishment knew this when they used this MYTH as a PRETEXT to shorten fights to fit into one-hour network timeslots in the 1980s!!
All title fights should be 15 rds, boxing would be MUCH better with the 15, only a moron would prefer 12 to 15.
Kind of like games where you have to win by two? Since so few fights are scored draws, does it matter? If it is that close I'd prefer calling it a draw when it becomes a 'judged' event.
