Floyd has just started doing yoga for this fight so maybe we'll see a fresher version of him in this fight combined with the activity.

    • A lot more economical in his footwork compared to how he used to be.
    • He has improved strength wise, grown in to the division(s).
    • Slower of hand and foot.
    • Definitely more aggressive, seems willing and capable to stand and trade more, show who is physically stronger.
    • Maybe signs of letting his hands go earlier to make a statements (we'll see if my theory is correct against Cotto).
    • I mentioned in another thread earlier, although physically stronger, maybe slight signs that his age and inactivity starting to slowly set in, muscle deterioration, etc.

Some people say Floyd has gotten solower as he's gotten older. I disagree. I figure there's just no way his hands will be as fast as they were when he was a featherweight.

However, I have noticed a couple of sills of Floyd that have diminished

    1. A Stiff left Jab

    2. Combination Punching

    3. Ability to fight moving backwards - almost completely gone.

I personally don't believe that we can go off of the past two fights as evidence of anything. This is the first time in years he's fought so close. This is the true Floyd we should be judging.

It's sad to see his body falling apart but it happens to everyone. 35 is not exactly young, and the small fighters age badly. He should really get that rib thing taken care of too before it snaps from a body shot

He doesnt move laterally as much and has adjusted his style....he does often move in straight lines which most trsiners tell you is a bad thing but from me watching alot of film I notice doing so he is always in a position to counterpunch....Also he is better defensively on the inside and is physically stronger than he was at 130-135 where he would use his legs and fight off the back foot...he throws less punches but his accuracy now is insane and he has mastered the art of hit and not get hit.....He seems to also have steadily improved defending against southpaws and everytime out he does better and better....he is overall a better fighter, he just isnt quite the athlete as far as being able to move arouund laterally for 12 rounds

He has always had that mean streak. You can go back to Gatti and you can go back to even before Gatti. He just has a switch to turn it on or off when needed.

I think now though, which is maybe what you are getting at....he has to keep that switch on. Maybe because he has declined in other ways...like with his leg/agility/dancing. So now that he has to stand his ground more, that dog in him has to stay out in order to protect his ground and get respect early. He can't be cute anymore with the dancing around the ring and avoiding a fight.
