Hauser brings up some very good points, but like always, he paints Bob Arum as a patron saint who can do no wrong.

Hauser is a talented writer, but it is very clear he is Arum's go to boxing writer. For every cause Arum takes up (HBO's treatment of him, Margarito's attempt to get licensed, anti GBP articles etc.) Hauser is always the one writing these long detailed articles with quotes from Arum to prove his points, and nary a bad word against Arum or Top Rank.

Hauser is about as biased as they come, and he really doesnt do all that good a job at hiding it.

With that said, he is mostly right about HBO's foolishness over the past 5-6 years, and there needs to be some big changes for sure.

Very good articles, parts 1 and 2. I get the feeling that Bob Arum is slowly taking more and more control of the sport.

HBO Sports has been embarassed and surely Greenberg and Davis will go. The new guys will give Top Rank more support as they have the better fighters.

At the same time, Mosley has left Golden Boy and Marquez and Khan may do the same (Khan's contract expires after the McCloskey fight). Top Rank are growing in power when it should be Golden Boy as we thought it would be a few years back.

I emailed Hauser and he said he was considering doing a What Promoters Should Do Now article in a couple of months time.
