Thank you. So many do this. They give the ring IQ and chin of 90s Foreman to 70s Foreman.

@cross_trainer your post gives the distinct impression that you think people still believing Foreman and Shavers are at the forefront of power, history wise, are more than a little deluded. There is a pointed reference to weight.

I get the allure of where you are coming from. Lots of huge muscular (and certainly not so) men spread across the division, perhaps even full of PEDS etc. More to choose from etc.

What would you put forward that unequivocally tells us Foreman and Shavers aren't even in the discussion. I'll await your response and start a poll thread on it tonight my time (10'ish hours from now) via my own wording.

Actually just give me as yay i'm up for that and i will start the thread later where you can have a say early on.

It has the makings of a very good thread actually.

I wouldn't go so far as to say Shavers or Foreman aren't in the discussion. Foreman hit plenty hard even in the 90s (although he had theoretical access to the same PEDs everybody else did by that point.)

I just think with so many guys to choose from, people should dedicate more thought to whether Shavers and Foreman are the definitive power-punching heavies. They shouldn't be chosen by reflex, despite the testimonials Shavers had.

Especially because if we're talking *power* -- a physical trait -- S&C people have better ways to train it now. Including...well...dubious ones.

Fair enough. Keen for a thread later still? I think it would be a bloody good one mate.

I think it would be a cool thread. I don't know how busy I'm going to be this weekend, but I'll very likely pop in and throw a bit of gasoline on the fire, here and there.

I assume it's going to be something like, "Foreman and Shavers were the hardest punchers ever."...?

    Oh how you underrate me.....

How about, on the second tier, below Foreman and Shavers, can modern day rumpers be reasonably compared to such historically noted bangers as Liston, Louis. Marciano and Dempsey?

I like it. Go for the gold!

("With enough training, could the best modern heavyweights approach Tommy Burns in power?")

What do you think of Tyson six months into his comeback after prison against '67 Ali?

    but
increasing the power punch is always matter of the technique & repetition practice. punch power is correct punch technique + fearless commit to the punch. this is all. it is the physics & attitude

Strength& Conditions coach does not teach power punch.

Trevor Berbick had plenty of heart as did plenty of others. An aged Holmes had tons of it too!

    Typical post.
