What heavyweights would actually make a top 100 list?

My criteria for p4p lists is a little different. I tend to rate guys who excel in multiple weight divisions higher than fighters who were simply small by their weight division's standards...hence the Adamek pick(and Joe Frazier omission). Holyfield wouldn't be a bad pick either but I'm pretty harsh on obvious steroid users.

 

Don't you think Adamek takes steroids ?

 

P4P greatness means judging a fighter's ability not only within in the context of their particular division, but also in comparison to the greats of other divisions. Obviously there are many heavyweights who are pound for pound greats....who would've performed well against the all-time greats of other divisions if both fighters were hypothetically the same size.

 

louis and ali. then i'd say holmes, foreman, marciano, johnson and dempsey would also be in a top 100. after that it's debateable... some would have lewis, tyson, frazier, liston, or all of them. i'm not sure that i would...

i agree with people who say the heavyweight division is historically weak, but only in terms of depth. the top heavyweights would do quite well on a list like this. if you include most of the guys mentioned and others who fought at heavyweight for significant portions of their careers, over an eighth of a top 100 would be heavyweights.

guys who had good stints at heavyweight but fought elsewhere, and would easily make a top 100 include charles, moore, holyfield, langford etc.

 

Actually, there's plenty of doubting that.
