What if boxing were set up so that there were automatic scaled purse levels? As we know, quite often lesser fights are made because they bring in much more money. But what if, as an example, a champion always made, say, $2 million for fighting the #1 contender but only $1 million for fighting #2, $900,000 for fighting #3, all the way down to $200,000 for fighting the #10 guy? Let's say that contenders were paid in a similar manner - $1 million for fighting the champ, on down. How would boxing be different? Would this kind of thing be good for the fight game? BTW - This post assumes that there is a universally accepted and fair ranking system, a single champion per division, and no sitting on rankings. Not asking for much, am I?
