Really? If the Wilder fight teaches us anything it should be that you don't back a way less proven fighter without very good reason... Zhang fine, but Dychko or Jalolov??
those guys are locked out by the promoters for a reason. were they brits or americans they'd be rolling in opportunities.
Or they're not willing to make themselves bigger... It's a common problem - fighters with no name recognition in the markets that pay the bills still expect to be paid cuts that they'd get if they were known in those bigger markets (eg: if they'd come from them)... Then because they're not worth fighting economically, they don't get the chances, don't develop and don't prove themselves. Regardless of the reasons, these guys are unproven - the reason why is just as irrelevant as whether Wilder has a crap resume because he's a coward who won't sign to fight anyone good or whether he's been overprotected by a team who knew he wasn't all that... Either way, unproven is unproven and backing unproven is unwise without very good reason, IMHO
Wilder losing to the extent he did to Parker was a shock to me. People say he's faded. Yeah some, but I don't think he's faded that much to where you can 12-0 the guy unless he was just never that good to begin with. I think he simply got faced with a dude who could actually box, was not glass chinned AND properly prepared for him. I think if AJ and Wilder fight now its a complete shutout in AJ's favor. I used to think Wilder would've dismantled AJ, but not at after seeing both of their last performances. Either Wilders right hand degraded or it simply was never as good as we thought due to his level of competition being mostly poor/mediocre. I think if anything AJ dismantles what's left of Wilder.
Wilder was umproven and Parker is proven mediocre. odds are they'll never fight the guys i mentioned because no one fights more than once a year for the most part anymore.
Regardless of how often they fight, why would they fight guys who bring them little to no recognition and do it for the sake or less money than if they fought guys who are known to be decent and worthwhile for rankings? These guys could get more fights in and climb the ladder if they were willing - Jalolov can't even decide whether he even cares about the pros.
obviously he is making more money in the amateurs. none of the top guys are going to fight a dangerous opponent who brings no money when they can run bum chisora out there and the brits will eat it up thinking this time he wins.
They definitely missed their opportunity. But they didn't have the courage to fight Wilder on this big card, they let Parker do it. Let's not forget that. Or that everyone thought Parker was getting KO'd. Wilder was probably right in that they were relieved he lost. People need to accept that they never wanted that fight, it's so obvious at this point. Wilder was always too risky for them to fight in his prime and apparently even when he was 38. Everyone knows his limitations and that he is a protected POS too, but the fact remains he KO'd everyone, and almost KO'd Fury twice. Hearn and AJ wanted no part of that.
If last weekends AJ fought last weekends Wilder, AJ would have looked like Mike Tyson in there against Wilder this far along and would have rag dolled him and KO'd him very quickly.
