We know exactly what he was capable of because he gave so much, and because it is so dilligently recorded. If all we had were pictures.... Or better yet -- that this ideal son-in-law, this innocent goody-two-shoes was a sadistic sneering beast inside those ropes that hasn't seen his equal since? You'd probably think an oldtimer was telling them a tale. You'd respect his views, but assume them to be rose-tinted, celebrating his child-hood heroes and exaggerating his attributes to the point of godhood. After all, what your eyes tell you is something different entirely. If all we had were pictures, then we'd be free to claim they had godlike abilities(Greb). Because there would be no film revealing to us that they were primitive, crude and looked like absolute ****(Ketchel, Jeffries, Fitz, Dempsey etc)
