Pavlik did not set a high pace, Calzaghe did. Hopkins did not tire against Pavlik because of that, he did tire against Calzaghe because of that. Name me a 43-year-old in history that doesn't have stamina issues at the top level. This isn't rocket science. If Hopkins fought Kessler, I do not think Kessler would expose his stamina issues. If Hopkins fought Dawson, I do think Dawson would also expose his stamina issues. Calzaghe did nothing clever or skilful except set a high pace v a 43-year-old. It could be replicated by another younger, quality opponent.
im looking at the styles and with b-hop gasing out do to all the movent he could possibly get a stopped. KP was right in front of hopkins all night all hop did was turn him, catch him off balance and and take advantage of his in experiance. KP although very good was a terrible style match up . Kessler is more mobile with his feet. (although he doesn't really have much head movement). kessler mobility would tire b-hop out. taylor has no head movement but his activity and movement in the first 6 rouds made b-hop look old untill the latter part when taylor started to gass out. JOe's movent and activity made hop work more then he wanted too so he pulled his tricks to get a breather. Kessler hits harder then joe and his puches will seem faster then taylor and joes as he throws straighter punches . add that to the fact that his hand speed at 168 is nothing to sneez at and the ref stepping in is not out of the question :deal
He doesn't even shows up to fight, just calls out "Kessler - Kessler is not in my league man - who is Kessler" Hopkins - what a true warrior. US should be proud!!!
Forget Kelly Pavlik. Name me one fighter who has ever stopped Hopkins. Name me one who even came close. There was only one fight were Hopkins even got knocked down and the altitude probably had a lot to do with that.
Kessler is really not all that slick. Hopkins has faced way slicker fighters than Kessler as well as bigger punchers than Kessler. Of course you do, Kessler has fastly become one of the most overrated fighters on this forum. It coincided with his lopsided loss to Calzaghe, a lopsided fight that people keep trying to pretend was close. Many people use the term one dimensional without even thinking about the meaning. Kessler is not all that well rounded and is very predictable. Hopkins has been fighting younger and fresher guys for the past 13 years or so. Kessler's biggest accomplishment was a loss. His best win was against Mundine. Hopkins is right, Kessler is not in his league.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbHrYELQPw4 kessler wouldnt stand like a passive mf just like pavlik did, he would throw bombs at b-hop all night and try to win the fight, he's a true warrior and all you haters can say what you want, but this guy is the future king of SMW.. you can easily tell by watching his previous fights that he's the kinda fighter that don't make the same mistake twice - the 1 loss to calzaghe (with a broken hand) will be the only loss you will se at his resume for the next 5 years to come.. after he unified the wba/wbc against froch, he should be able to get some bigger fights in US and there's no excuse for ppl like hopkins, taylor to dodge him anymore.
There is absolutely no way on God's Earth that a one-dimensional robot like Kessler even beats Hopkins never mind stops or KOs him.
Fine, name me one fighter who has come close to either stopping or KO'ing Hopkins. Name me the last time you've even seen him hurt in the ring.
joe was pretty close as hokins was gased out. Echols had him hurt. a fighters durabilty can go down when the have no stamina. the ref could stop it due to the fact that hopkins could be taking to many shots. he's 43 for F sakes. the ref is going to be quicker to step in
If JOE can hurt Kessler to the body, imagine what Hops would do. Hopkins would win this fight comfortably.
hopkins went down due to exahustion not a low blow. had he not taken the break there a possibility a Joe flurry could of prompted the ref to jump the gun. a very likely possibilty:good
