What if Caleb Plant were to convincingly outbox Canelo

And if stamina and motivation were his only problems, I think you would have a stronger point. His fragile hands are also a huge factor that everyone seems to overlook, especially given his lack of one-shot punching power and Canelo's cast-iron chin. I also don't think we've seen enough of Caleb in situations where we can with any confidence say he's the rare Tyson Fury type of fighter, where his performance is directly related to how interested he is in the fight. Stamina training should help, and is a tangible thing you can point to and say, "Okay, he had this problem in the Jose fight but he's addressing it!" The problem is, if stamina were the sole issue regarding Plant, I doubt his handlers would have kept him away from the Callum Smith's (who isn't any good), Saunders' (who is a blown-up middleweight) and Benavidez' of the world. Hell John Ryder would have been an excellent fight to make post-Callum Smith when a lot of people thought Ryder won.

If's, and's, and but's. That's Caleb Plant's career in a (mostly) nutshell. And if no one is giving him a chance, taking his career seriously, or giving him stink eye for getting 10 million to (in their eyes) show up, he and his handlers have only themselves to blame. There was time and opponents aplenty to have people take him more seriously, and he actively chose not to get them, refusing to fight Canelo until he was the last belt-holder left standing to milk as much as he could.

But to be fair, it's not like he did something that literally everyone else was trying to do in this trash-heap of a division. Rather than pay sanctioning fees, Canelo should get tax write-offs from all this charity work he's doing.

Well I've gone into plenty of context when it comes to Plant. I've pointed out that he's got a good jab, he uses upper body movement, he's defensively sound. See I actually watch fighters fight and don't just go by resume. Generally beating an undefeated fighter and a belt holder is considered a good win, but lets talk more context. How do you rate Plant and do you think he has a chance?
Well I've said after the fight that Saunders really didn't fight the kind of a fight I thought he was capable of. What I was worried about was him fighting like he did against Lemieux, and that didn't happen. But many still thought he was competitive vs Canelo, some had him winning the fight on the cards before he retired. If Saunders while not being at his peak could still be competitive then I don't see why Plant can't be, who's a natural 168-lber. I'm not making any bold predictions here, I just think that Plant could give him problems.

As far as Saunders, it's a good win, but I'm not claiming it's a great win. The punch that he caught Saunders with was perfectly timed though and definitely shows how good of a puncher Canelo is. I would think that you of all people would agree with me here as far as Plant being competitive because you've said many times you don't believe Canelo is that good to be getting all these decision wins. If I'm not mistaken, you don't think Canelo's anything special so why wouldn't a guy like Plant be able to compete over 12 rounds? If Canelo can't get him out of there, I could see Plant winning some rounds and keeping it close on the cards. Whether he could win a decision is another story, but his ability to be competitive here would not seem to be that crazy of a statement. But yet I'm getting attacked here for arguing that Plant has a chance to be competitive. What do you make of all this?

If tonight I told you how he's going to shock the world, you'd be shocked but the fight would be ruined for you. So I'm not going to reveal the shock. At this moment in time.

It would be a dream come true, but Plant can't keep Canelo off of him
