What if Caleb Plant were to convincingly outbox Canelo

i dont think hes an unknown. i can see what he does, and doesnt do, in the ring. canelo is going to connect the overhand right at will after the third rd. he is going to train plant to react to his feints, then time an overhand right into plants low left hand and leaning defense. plant has no idea right now how differently a guy at canelos level can judge distance, and adjust distance. nothing thats worked before on the low level competition hes faced, is going to work on canelo. and thats going to scare him. how he reacts to that fear i will be waiting to see. remember this post.

He's 21-0 and in the prime of his life. Why wouldn't he have a chance? Canelo is a great fighter but he's not unbeatable. You said something stupid and I called you out on that. I think Plant is a good fighter and I don't like hearing good fighters being disrespected or getting called garbage for no reason like you did, especially when he's about to have the fight of his life. Lets give Plant the benefit of the doubt. Sure he's unproven but that doesn't mean he can't surprise people on the night. It's disrespectful to Plant and I don't know why you feel the need to discredit this fight. I can't wait to see what Plant can do vs Canelo. If you think he has no chance then that's your opinion but I think he has a chance and it's something I'm looking forward to. We just disagree I guess, and that's fine but there's no excuse for calling Plant garbage and it doesn't help boxing for anyone to trash this fight, it's a fight we all should be excited about.

Plant doesn't need to be garbage to have no chance of beating Canelo - Canelo is a top top level fighter, Plant isn't on the same level, arguably not even just one level below...

On paper this is a "levels, dumbass" kind of fight, a mismatch, but then most fights would be with a dominant P4P fighter stuck in a relatively poor division.

And I'm saying this is simply not true - and that anyone who's been watching boxing has seen it time and time again when fighters march up the ranks looking like world class fighters only to get destroyed long before they get put in with generational talents...
Clearly you cannot isolate a fighters ability from the level of opposition they fight.

You can tell a fighter isn't garbage by their ability to beat decent opposition. Being undefeated against journeymen and the odd gatekeeper means you're a solid pro, at least gatekeeper level and possibly contender level - that's by definition not garbage... But it's also a world away from elite, and that's why this is a mismatch.

Plant ain't garbage... but this ain't competitive either.

Plant may seem garbage in comparison with Canelo, but that's mostly because Canelo is a serious top level fighter and Plant is a lower level champion with a shallow resume.

Canelo is going to present a level of class that Plant hasn't fought before, won't even begin to comprehend and won't have the first clue how to handle.
