I caught the first three Rocky movies on cable and I'm curious to know the general opinion of him as a fighter. Hands down, I think Carl Weathers was the most skilled boxer in the entire movie series aside from Tommy Morrison, the only real boxer who played Tommy Gunn. Stallone and others on the set mentioned Carl Weathers had a serious jab, a solid right hand, and was very quick on his feet. In fact, Stallone had trouble keeping up with Weathers during the training sessions for the movie. He played defensive back for the Raiders before his acting career. Would he have done anything as a boxer, even if he began his career before his football years? The movies can easily deceive but you have to admit that Weathers' movement looked pretty good in the first couple of rounds in Rocky II.
I think he would have been a good boxer. Can't say how far he would have gone but I wouldnt care to tangle with him.
His boxing always looked good in the films he looked quick and put his combinations together pretty well, no idea how ell he would have done as a pro. He seems like one of those guys who is a natural athlete considering he also played pro American football.
He was ripped to absolute **** in the Rocky films, maybe even more so in Predator. Pretty obvious looking at him and Stallone (Especially Stallone) that they went a little crazy doing steroid cycles together in the 80's to get massive. Stallone was already connected to all that, Weather's seemed to benefit even more, but then again, he supposedly trained with Gironda as well, so who knows.
Bwhahhaa, what I'm saying. It almost turned into a showcase for showing them both (And Lundren) all oiled up and exercising.
Exactly. The beach running scene is Rocky 3 is shocking. There's an electric shock torture scene in the 2nd or 3rd Rambo film that's blatantly contrived to allow Stallone the obligatory "gratuitous flex scene" too.
