No. Roberto Duran on the set was said to be extremely impressed with Weathers' movement and jab. Carl's jab was quick, fast and hard.

The man was an athlete and was in excellent shape for all three movies.

That same thing is said about pretty much every actor in boxing/fighting movies. They probably do look better than the average Joe because average Joe has to work 40 hours a week while the actors can spend all day training with professional help and a professional diet. The professional help are hardly likely to say the actor is a bit ****, it reflects badly on them and the actor.

Back on-topic, haven't seen any of the Rockys for ages, but Creed always struck me as a bit of an arm-puncher with no real meat on his punches.

Actually there were a few pros who appeared in the Rocky series, even if only briefly... The Character "spider Rico" was a real life heavyweight from the 1970's named Pedro Lovell. In Rocky V, the paper champ named "union Cane" was played by heavyweight prospect/journeyman Mike Williams who fought Douglas, Tillis and Witherspoon back in the 80's. In the last installment of the film, Mason "the line" Dixon was played by Antonio Tarver.. Joe Frazier made an appearance in Rocky I. In Rocky V, they showed Clips of some of Tommy Morrison's real fights during the scenes where Rocky was building him up as a contender.. I'm also pretty sure that there were parts in some of the gym scenes throughout the whole series where a few pros may have played extras..

Carl Weathers was clearly an athletic guy.. Had a great body and was probably fairly coordinated and may even have had a basic understanding of the basics of boxing.. But its virtually impossible to tell how he would have done in the game had it been for real..

Since he played for the Oakland Raiders he should have fought Dallas Cowboy Ed "Too Tall" Jones

Truth be known, I have met him numerous times and done many transactions in my field of expertise.

He's a great ****ing guy, super smart and cultured, funny as ****.

That was a good 15 years ago but I can say Carl Weathers is a ruling individual.

Who knows how he would've done he could've been featherfisted, glass chinned etc. In the movies however he looks pretty damn quick, lightfooted and coordinated some fairly rare gifts for a big man.

Did you ever notice that, in every boxing movie, somebody says that the star would have made a "great" fighter? They said it about Elvis, Will Smith, Russel Crowe (he was in Cinderella Man, right?).
