No way in hell Cotto becomes p4p #1 by beating Margo.

Wins over Judah, Quitana and Mosley made him deserve a place in the P4P ranking. But a win over Margarito is not enough to elevate him to #1.

I think the more interesting question is what if margarito destroys Cotto. That would send a bigger shock through the boxing world. Would it happen? It could. I think Cotto comes out on top but Margarito is a very dangerous opponent.

I don't see Cotto destroying Margarito, but if he did, then a Cotto-Mayweather must happen. I think Cotto will beat Margarito convincingly, but I don't see him destroying him at all.

You're adding many "if's" to the statements that triggered my reply.

The statements were: (1) "Margo represents Cotto's biggest challenge" (Wrong. Mosley was Cotto's biggest challenge); (2) "Cotto should be #1 P4P if he beats Margo" (since when one becomes #1 P4P for beating an opponent that is not even considered a top 50 P4P?)

Who says he will or intend to?

Cotto doesn't need to beat Margo to establish himself as the #1 contender, he has already confirmed that status by beating Mosley.

Cotto/PBF is a must, of course, but we already knew that before the Margo fight was signed.

He's dangerous to C level fighters like Golden Johnson. He's somewhat dangerous to C level pushing to B fighters like Cintron. He struggled and lost against true B level fighters like Clottey and Williams. Yes Margo is big and he's tough and intimidating... but he's also flat-footed, slow and displays poor defense. A-level fighters like PBF and Cotto eat him for lunch.

Acting as if Margo is the entire picture is ridiculous. Margarito represents the last CHALLENGE on his way to Floyd the Duck. Ignoring that reaity, is ******ed. Not that you are. I'm just staing THE OBVIOUS FACTS.

Will Floyd continue to duck him? Well lets see Floyd alreaxdy said he wants a Hatton rematch and hasnt UNIFIED any division. There is no logic in believeing with CONFIDENCE that Floyd will face Cotto given how Floyds approached his career from start to NOW.

Margarito does pose perhaps Cotto's biggest risk based on the physical differences between them. Margarito is a tough fight for ANYONE. BTW? I'm not a Marg fan:nono Its just truth, he's a huge, hard punching, cement chinned WW who will come at you for a full 12:good

I see your point but I'm pretty sure that most people have him in their top 50 p4p

Please READ my friend. Its not just Marg. Marg is simply the only one left save Floyd.

When Floyd ducks him some more? Floyd's accolades will be shot to hell by avoiding the CHAMPION who's walked the CHAMPIONS PATH. Rather than the MARKETING CHOICES.

So does it depend on how Cotto beats Margo for you? Does he have to destroy him, win convincingly, or just plain beat him? I currently have Cotto at #4 on my p4p list and when (I mean if  ) he beats Margo I will probably put him at #2, given he beats him pretty convincingly

It does not matter how as long as he WINS!

See the difference between Floyd and Cotto is PROOF!!

Cotto's CLEANING 147, perhaps the best division in the sport vs beating the weaker of the group while CLAIMING greatness.

Proof, is what counts and so far? That's Cotto's trademark!! One which is deserving of more respect than ducking, talking, and bullshitting:good

It doesn't matter. If Cotto isn't p4p no.1 now, he won't be by beating Margo. To say he does shows a lack rational and common sense. Even if you say that he leaps Floyd(that's a big stretch in my opinion), no way in hell could you justify ranking Cotto above Calzaghe or Pac.

Listen, I know you and Margo fans are pissed at Floyd because your favorite fighter never got a chance to get his ass kicked by Floyd in a real fight, however it's no reason to continue this silly "hate on everything Floyd does" begade. Floyd fought in the two biggest fights last year against two top 20 p4p fighters who will likely enter the HOF.

The Mayweather/Cotto fight will happen in due time. Mayweather said he would love to fight Cotto and Uncle Roger said the fight will happen. Once the fight does happen and Mayweather comes out victorious, you can find another reason to continue to belittle Mayweather. Either that, or you can continue harping on theS padafora/Mayweather sparring session, or yaping on about how great SRL is and how Mayweather will never measure up to him. In the meantime, continue posting about how Mayweather is ducking Cotto and how Mayweather has never unified a division(crap argument considering Chico was stripped for fighting Mayweather and Mayweather dumped the IBF belt before facing Baldo. And how many divisions did James Toney ever unify?)

    Due time.....

Cotto's walking the path, Floyds just talking it. After the Margarito fight if Cotto wins? You can hug those P4P nuts tightly, they WONT MEAN A GODDAMN THING!!

How can you respect a guy who beat limited and OLD opposition to that claim at 47, over the man who beat the better comp, which includes at least 2 guys Floyd really doesnt want to face?

Have fun with that BS. It will be drowned out the CLEAR UNDERSTANDING of the majority after Margarito combined with further PBF delay.

There's nothing left to build. You'll have the Real Champ vs The HYPE Champ or else the hype Champ can keep running his mouth and dream that he's considered the best:good
