I think that Dempsey wasn't very good that night and probably any ATG fighter in their prime of a similar poundage should be favoured. But you never know with Dempsey.
I think so, Moore never had the wheels of a Tunney even at his best,which he certainly wasn't for Rocky.
Tunney was possibly the worst opponent Jack could have taken on after three years out, in fact gene would probably always give him a difficult fight. But Moore, while a great light heavy would still be in with a fully fledged power punching heavy. Archie would have, I believe, came straight out at Jack believing he could rip the crown from his head. At some point there will be a close contact brawl, and whilst Jack will no doubt suffer perhaps A kd or two, dempsey s fists will do the most damage. Eventually some how jack will find the strength to finish off Moore but it would have taken everything he had.
Dempsey by KO Dempsey had a terrific performance against Tunney in the rematch, and would've beat many ATGs. But Tunney had an even better performance.
Dempsey after the 3 years in Hollywood was not the same ferocious , hungry tiger who destroyed Willard. Just like Liston who fought Ali was not the same Liston of early 60's. Prime Dempsey would ko Moore in 10 rds. The 1926 version would be ko by Moore late.
I got Dempsey..It was that stick an move style that he couldnt deal with and Tunney was an in his prime master of it.
