What if Duran and Hearns had tried to unify at Welterweight in 1980?

Yes, you were wrong then, just like it seems you are now. I conclusively proved SRL usual style was much closer to Montreal than it was to N.O. There can be no denying that. No covering of your eyes and ears go nah uh changes that. To say nothing of the fact that Duran hurt SRL and put him in a fog for a good number of rounds. This is coming directly from SRL. A cow didn't fall on him, Duran did that to him early in the fight, which changed the whole dynamic and outcome of the fight. It wasn't a slip on a banana peel, that was Duran.

Problem here is, nearly everybody disagrees that it wasn't a clear Duran victory. Many threads have been made on the subject, and the vast majority saw it as a decisive and clear Duran victory. You not doing so, doesn't change what the majority saw. I'm still waiting on that scorecard of yours showing a Duran barely beating him.

Yes he did eat, shhit and party at lw too but he was very active than and the training camps actually took place...inside the ring je was hungry....after srl one and hagler it was one huge party but more crucially in the ring against srl 2 he was not angry and didnt want to fight...the fact he quit in a fight that was in reality almost even on the cards speaks its own story....srl3 same thing money was in the bank mission done lacklustre effort but the three punches he did throw busted up leonards ass bad...against hearns a 10 day training camp, yes men to replace arcel, went in got wiped out...

When the paydays threatened to dry up he came back with the cuevas, moore, hagler efforts than barkley

That's fair, I can respect that. I need to watch it and score it again some time. I just don't get the people who talk about the fight like it was some kind of blowout massacre.

Look at Leonard waiting for the decision in that fight, if you had any questions about who won his corner and Sugars facial expression says it all! He knew he'd lost

Anythin between a 1 point to 4 points margin in favour of Duran would be reasonable in my opinion

I'm not sure I could get to the only a 1 point victory for Duran, but I understand your point. Either way though, I think you would agree, whatever score you come up with, it was a clear Duran win.

Duran at welter, the Duran that beat Leonard wasn't the slow stationary target that Hearns fought at 154. Duran gets to Hearns just the way Leonard did and KO's him.

Duran in 80' very well could get the job done. People that compare Duran with the Duran that showed in 4 years later and act like he's the same fighter. He wasn't. If SRL could pressure and get inside on Tommy, I'm supposed to believe there's no way Duran could?

It has been said that Duran had a fear of Hearns. And I believe it. He had to be impressed with the Cuevas annihilation. And if he fought Cuevas between 1978-1980, Pipino may have coldcocked him.
