Let's surmise that George decided to have a so called, other easy defense before Ali.
So he takes on Jimmy Young, of that actual time.
Youngs probably unheard of mostly here.
Can he actually gain a victory over Foreman the unbeaten champ?

Ps. It won't take place in Zaire, pick a spot in the US!
    Anyway 15 Rounds?

Ohhh Young would not have been ready for george at that time.
In the real world, the prime Jimmy has that impressive win over a george "pace myself" Foreman.
But here, we have a prime george "seek and destroy" Foreman fighting a Green like a cucumber Jimmy young!!
Please, here George would not think about it twice, he would throw caution to the wind, walk through everything Jimmy throws, cut the ring off and knock him dead.
    Foreman KO 2 or 3.
I always felt that Young's prime was from 1975 tilll 1977, i think he became better than ever somewhere in 1975 after whupping Ron Lyle or atleast after the second Shavers fight.
Now the 1975-1977 young against 1973_1974 George Foreman??? That would be interesting.

Maybe a prime Young but the green ‘74 Young would be lucky to make it to the 2nd IMO.

Foreman knocks him out. By 77 Gil Clancey put too many restraints on George. George could have beat him in 77 if Gil wasnt in his corner

Yup. Anyone who thinks prime Foreman beats a ‘74 Young who just drew with Billy Aird less than a year prior is only guilty of being a Foreman fan.

I am not into the making excuses for favorite fighters business, they were not prepared, their shoes were too big, a fan threw a skate board at them when the referee was not looking, they were not well prepared, whose fault was this? and so on, you get my drift. But as another talented poster alluded to, Jimmy Young was not ready, he was correct. Young had not met the fighters who gave him a ring education, Ron Lyle , Earnie Shavers, and Muhammad Ali.. Jimmy would have been taken out fairly early, much the same way Shavers took him out, TKO 2, that is against the 1974 edition of George Foreman.

I don't know, id like to think that even this fresh Jimmy Young, would bamboozle Foreman.
Taking advantage of an overconfident Champ.
But in all probability, Young may do well for a certain length of time, but ends up spreadeagled out on the floor, giving Foreman his route clear to Zaire.

Yes Foreman was overconfident, but it not would be his undoing against Jimmy Young.
I mean, Foreman's plan was to cut the ring off so Ali won't find any place to hide, and beat him up.
But the thing is he badly underestimated Ali's matchless willingness to take tremendous punishement and he did not expect Muhamamd to stay on the ropes and exchange with him. And we can add the fact that his corner didn't told him anything to neutralize the rope a dope technique, saddler literally wanted george to keep punching!
I don't think young would do what Ali since he was not as strong as him, nor could he take the same kind of beating Foreman could give to a figther if he cornered him or had him on the ropes.
So no, if Foreman tracked Young down and caught him like he did with Ali, good night Jimmy
I certainly think a 1975-1977 jimmy could run for his life or use his slickness to drive Foreman insane, but if the super limited finisher shavers caught the still learning young and finished him well........in term of finishing ability, anything Shavers did, Foreman could do it 10× better.

I'll go with that. All Jimmy needs is a few years experience.

I’d certainly give foreman a better chance. He wouldn’t have had the lay-off after Zaire. He wouldn’t have had his confidence shaken by the Ali loss. He’d preferably be fighting in an arena that had air conditioning. Young would be less experienced. Does this mean George definitely wins ? Not necessarily but his prospects of victory look better
