I'm of the opinion that the George Foreman who fought Jimmy Young was not the same guy who fought Joe Frazier and Ken Norton. He had that whole loss to Ali hanging over his head, and his new trainer, Gil Clancy, did a lot of tinkering with George's style. Under Clancy, Foreman fought at a more measured pace, and he seemed to throw straighter punches but without the intensity of the earlier Foreman. Larry Holmes would have easily beaten the George Foreman that lost to Jimmy Young. But I'm not so sure that Holmes would have beaten the Joe Frazier/Ken Norton Foreman, or even the monster that Ali slew. Remember, Ali didn't really outbox that George Foreman; he basically just oulasted him and outthought him. That Foreman was a nightmare!
