What if Foreman made his comeback the same year Tyson turned pro?

If Foreman came back in `85 instead of `87 would he have been matched with a prime Tyson and would he have started off with slightly quicker hand speed than when he turned pro in `87? Could Foreman have made his way to No.1 contender? He was never No.1 contender during his second career.

I think that most realize that Foreman's second career was a 90% money making venture and most realize that the differences in Tyson and Frazier are greater than the similarities that made Frazier made for Foreman. The body composition the neck strength, chin, the punching power, speed and defense

I love Frazier to death like Marciano he is a great fighter who had little natural athletic gifts but insane dedication, will and courage the fortitude to dare to fight and defeat better gifted men

Tyson had tremendous natural power, reflexes, strength, speed and was built like a modern power running back like Earl Campbell compact power type.

Frazier was not a good defensive fighter his bobbing and weaving was perfect for him given his eyesight but his being somewhat blind meant his constant movement was needed to avoid fighters timing him easier but if a fighter could time him he was vulnerable to being dropped.

Tyson had very good defense and the chin to absorb a well timed punch...

Frazier accuracy had poor timing again because of his eyesight he needed to get close and smother the other guy and work hard in close where you could practically close your eyes and still hit the other guy

Tyson did not like fighting in close without punching room but he had fantastic timing and the speed throw lightening fast combos midrange while dodging punches

Frazier hit hard and he had good speed who depended on his left hook

Tyson hit much harder had the fastest/quickest hands of all the heavyweight champions and had two handed power.

The intangibles are where Frazier wins fights but then again it is where he usually won fights but with Foreman his will to win could not get past Foreman's tremendous physical attributes

Tysons physical attributes are greater than Foreman's as demonstrated except for perhaps strength certainly mechanical leverage and possibly power...prime Tyson had the mentality to take Foreman and with his greater gifts of slipping punches, hand speed, mid range and long range power, footspeed, Foreman has one chance and that is catching Tyson in a poor state of mental health like he was in post prison.

Beating Frazier the way Foreman did is not a blueprint to beat Tyson

Foreman would've had to fight someone in the Top 10 and I'm fairly certain that Adilson Rodriguez would not be sufficient enough for Foreman to earn a Top 10 spot in all 3 governing bodies. 1986-1987 would've featured a better variety of live contenders since Tyson didn't obliterate the lot quite yet. Plus you had Holmes and Spinks in the way of Tyson claiming the "Lineal" title outright.

I don't see Foreman getting a title shot any earlier than 1990 anyways. Mmmmmaybe 1989 if the original Team Tyson stuck together. You see, Bill Cayton had a world tour planned for Tyson after the Spinks fight landed. Fight Frank Bruno in England, Adilson Rodriguez in Brazil, Razor Ruddock in Canada, a SuperFight with Holyfield in Las Vegas, and a MegaBout with Foreman in China or Japan.

Cayton got fired and the Tyson World Tour got scrapped because Don King took over operations.

Its possible he'd have got a shot against Tyson around 1989 .Let's assume Big George comes In instead of Carl Williams. At that stage Tyson s heads a bit ,shall we say srewed ?Probably the best chance for him to beat Tyson. But Tyson s not taking him lightly ,he's got Cus s words ringing in his head ,Foreman's a monster ,no swarming fighters beating him .
So either Tyson attacks him like a mad man or he s pensive .But Tyson's still got speed and youth on his side so perhaps we have Foreman appearing as a slow lumbering guy against a fast ,combo thrown ng speed demon .Big George suffers a cumulative affect of this and has brave as he is and refusing to go down he's pulled out by the ref .His face would resemble itself after the Stewart fight ,eyes shut and swollen. But its possibly not the end for George who carried on for at least another title shot .
