Foreman Should not have been allowed to push Frazier the way he did.
He WAS warned in the second round by Mercante but by then it was way to late. Look back at the tapes of the fight, Frazier COULD get inside against Foreman but then Foreman was allowed to shove him backwards. And he did it a LOT! This should have been illegal. If he was warned in the second round he should have been warned in the first. The truth is this could have very well made a difference in this fight. For anyone to say otherwise shows they are ignorant of how this made a huge difference. One thing is CERTAIN. If Frazier could have stayed inside, there was a very real possibility he would have hit Foreman. One punch could have made this a different fight but since Foreman could not keep Frazier away with his punches he shoved him backwards instead. This completely changed the fight. And it was an illegal tactic that should not have happened. As for the talk that Foreman would have hit Frazier with his uppercuts if he got inside, MAYBE but to do so he would have exposed his chin to a left hook. Why do you think Frazier was not hit with more uppercuts in his career if this was the punch that could hurt him? Because if he was inside you would have to drop your hand to start the punch. A short quick hook would almost always beat an uppercut to the target. Frazier had a real chance in this fight if Foreman had not been allowed to throw him around. Once on the outside Foreman could extend his arms and Frazier had next to no chance. I will always contend that the referee marred this fight. Foreman was hittable, just look at some of his fights. His defense was not that great but Frazier was unable to be where he needed to be because of the constant pushes.
