What if Frazier had used the tactics from his second fight with Foreman the first time he did fight Foreman? I do think Frazier did use the right tactics during the second fight with Foreman, using lateral movement and work behind the jab early. In round 4 he even started to come on stronger and land some good body shots. But obviously Frazier was physically past it during the second fight. What if peak prime Frazier had used the tactics he used during the second Foreman fight during the first fight with Foreman? Would he be able to keep standing and come on strong during the second half of the fight?
I think he would have lasted longer. Possibly had some moments but he still gets stopped eventually. I don't think Foreman would of gotten tired as easily because he wouldnt miss that many punches. As long as George was landing he would break through.
Unfortunately for Joe i see the same conclusion. Maybe lasting a few rounds longer but George would eventually have him.
I don't think JF beats GF unless he really alters a lot about himself and by then it's not really Frazier, how he existed NO it's very unlikely he beats GF.
I recently made similar thread: https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/younger-joe-frazier-with-foreman-ii-style.734890/
As others have already said, the modified style might buy Frazier a few more rounds but unfortunately still see the same ultimate fate for Joe. Not to take anything away from Frazier in the rematch but Foreman was modified himself, fighting a far more measured and patient fight which lent itself to Joe’s own strategy/objectives somewhat.
