You all keep talking about how vulnerable Fury is to the overhand right..... which he is... fighting orthodox. But what if Fury fights southpaw again? Everytime Fury gets knocked down its to a big looping right hand? what if that is taken out of the equation? The best I've seen Fury perform was against Rogan when he came out as a southpaw for the full fight. This meant he had a powerful jab and his left hand wasnt too bad either! I remember watching it live and thinking to myself how much of a transformation he made but after that he went back to his old ways? It just seems the obvious decision to me for him to make the switch against the Hayemaker. I'm sure i heard either him or someone from his team say hes been fighting like this (awful) to lure other opponents in. Before you make a comment do me a favour and watch the Rogan fight... (youtube etc) IMO if fury fights like his usual self hes getting knocked out in 3 rounds or less.. Fighting southpaw I honestly think he can cause haye problems.
Don't forget; Haye knows that trick too. In at least two big training camps (2009 and 2011) he publicly showed off sparring from the lefty stance. I can't recall if he ever made the flip during a live bout, however. He also only ever fought two southpaws professionally (Gurov & A-Force) but he sparred with plenty.
Are you being serious ? He lost the first 2 or 3 rounds against rogan because he was southpaw. He would have won quicker if he was in his usual orthodox stance. To be honest, he looked pretty lame in the fight, although the KO shot was quite impressive.
I hope he doesn't do that. Rogan was in the fight in the opening rounds vs. Fury. Also, Haye KO'd Gurov and Harrison pretty damn easily (ok, who doesn't KO A-Force easily?). I think a lot depends on how well Fury can handle Haye's power. I would advice Fury to begin carefully and fight more in the way that he did agains Kingpin. If he can handle Haye's power better than most of us predict, I think he could try to make it a dog fight as the fight progresses and wear Haye out. He needs to at least have plan A and B to win this. Plan C might come in handy too.
I agree. Also, I don't think the looping rights are going to be an issue anymore. Frankly that is the most obvious weakness in his whole fight game and I think they're going to continually work with him on that. We'll see though. If I'm wrong, which I don't think I am, then Haye may indeed give Fury something.
He's going to punch himself in the face again... Whilst haye flops about the ring trying to find his ring piece
he will cut down the chance of getting countered by Haye, but he will still get caught, may I remind you that Rogan had sucess against Fury where he fought southpaw, at least in the first two rounds
What is the bane of any southpaw's existence? (let alone part-time southpaws?) The hard straight right cross. What is Wladimir's best weapon? ...yeah.
Then he gets knocked out - much like if he fight orthodox. If there's a stance that gives you more boxing ability, then he should use that one.
