Cus could never control Tyson that's pretty clear.

I doubt Cus D'amato would have control of Tyson's pen!s though.

    Actually ... maybe he would.

The level at which tyson performed was never going to be sustainable with or without cus damato. He was a complete maniac with his training and both with his obsession with boxing and need to feel accepted and loved by cus. Cus despite being his legal guardian had made his love and praise conditional to tysons performance as a boxer. Tyson was very physically gifted but he was overachieving early in his career and was destined to implode as soon as his passion faded. You can only maintain a superhuman effort so long if the motivation and passion is not intrinsic.

Well, according to Teddy Atlas, Cus did indulge Tyson a lot more than the other kids in terms of his behaviour and let him get away with things that a reputed disciplinarian wouldn’t have turned a blind eye to but then that can either be interpreted as being unable to control Tyson or unwilling to because he probably knew that he didn’t expect to live that much longer and had to take short cuts to fulfill his dream of training another heavyweight champion before he died.
