    his defence isn't good enough

The first step to countering is making the other guy miss.

Isnt Floyd a defensive master trainer? Whats the point of having Floyd if he cant gain a defense? Higher wages for Hatton to pay to have a big name trainer?

Floyd can improve his defense, sure, but can he make his D good enough to counterpunch against Pacquiao, in just a year? Pac has the best offense in boxing. Hatton's best defense in this fight will be his own offense, and taking away Pacquiao's range.

He will be beat badly coz his defense is not that good... pac has already fought the best counter puncher in the sport today.

He should stick to his clinching technique.

Floyd Sr. is great at making guys good defensive boxers, but I doubt he's going to make a grand counterpunching boxer out of Ricky Hatton. He just isn't built that way.

Although I wouldn't be surprisde if Floyd improved Ricky's defense and counterpucnhing abilities, but no way he's going to make Hatton a stick and move kind of boxer.

I think Hatton has the skill, just not the mentality to adopt that strategy. I could see Hatton dropping Pac to his knees if he gets him with one of those short strait right leads or counters

I already saw a little of Floyd Sr.'s influence on Hatton in the Malignaggi fight. Hatton leaned back from some punches from Paulie and attempted to nail him back with some straight right counters.... he tried it a few times but I only saw him land one to my memory, but it landed to great effect. Those are the kinds of little tricks of the trade that Floyd teaches all his pupils... and little defensive and countering techniques like that is exactly what Hatton needs. He has the talent, but not quite all the skills and techniques required to fight at the championship level.

:good thats what i was lookin for.. If hatton can do that countering more frequently, he could do some good in this fight.. Dont take away the mauling type fight, but in the middle of the ring, avoid shots, and counter with hard strait rights.. Paulie got rocked, i dont doubt Pac cant either

It depends, if Hatton has developed a sharp right hand to counter Pacman by May 2nd then Pacman is screwed.

But something like that cannot be developed in such a short amount of time, and Hatton has always been too reliant on his left punch to the body, I dont see him changing especially with the lack of chemistry hes been having with Mayweather Sr.

If Hatton trie's to counter punch Pac he'll get eaten alive. Doesn't have the speed or timing of a counter puncher. Guy was born to go on the offensive with big shots.
