We all know about his speed, movement, devestating punching power but we also know he didn't have a chin or heart. Even Bowe said about the few punches he took from Hide, he was never hit as hard. So, how good would Herbie 'the dancing destroyer' Hide have been if he had an granite jaw and Holy's heart? Would the guy be a ATG, would he have wiped the floor with Bowe, Lewis, Holyfield, Vitali and Wlad? Or would he just been only a little better better due to other shortcomings? What if Edward Rackley had a correct stance, good technical ability, could adapt and fight in a number of different ways, had speed, power and threw his punches in a correct manner? What if he had good timing, excellent footwork and balance and a titanium jaw?
Nothing wrong with his heart. But if he had a granite chin then he would still have lost to Bowe, he burnt up a lot of nervous energy and was gassed after 3 rounds.
Well if he had these things he wouldn't be herbie hide right? What if Tyson was mentally stable? - nah, then he wouldn't be tyson
OK, I see this poll is going nowhere! :-( Then what if some made up boxer, let's call him ' This content is protected ' had all the trades of Hide only with a titanium jaw and huge heart. How good would he be?
He would be destroyed by Nikolay Valuev inside of 30 seconds. Then Niko would write an ill rhyme about it for his new album: Tolstoy Raps The Blues. Sorry, Robney!
He was a crude boxer with a big punch. Boxing history is littered with these kinds of fighters. Some of them achieve more than anyone expected, others less. It's a coin flip. In the end, he was too small to beat anyone of the top big heavweight...even if doctor Seus helped him grow his heart to ten times the size.
