No version of Winky Wright beats Hopkins.

If Hopkins beats Taylor, he likely wastes his time adding on more Middleweight defenses. Best case scenario was him moving up as what happened. He was too drained at Middleweight anymore.

Hopkins said going into the first Taylor fight that it would be his last at the weight, win or lose. He was planning on fighting the winner of Tarver-Jones III at 175 after the Taylor fight, so he would have moved up anyway if he had gotten the decision.

I think Hopkins would've left regardless, I think it was getting tough for him at his age to make 160.

    No point crying over it.

The Tarver victory is one of the best W's on his resume; he may not have got that if he had have beaten Taylor and stayed at MW.

And there it is. Moving up and freeing himself weight wise seems to have given Hopkins a new lease of life. Stamina and energy wise he has definitely improved, which was quickly turning into his biggest drama at 160 in decline. His workrate was excellent vs Tarver, and incredible vs Pavlik considering his age. Moving up was the best thing he could have done at the time.

When I talk about Bernard Hopkins' losses I list Jones and Calzaghe only (as his debut loss really is meaningless when you want to match h2h or on his overall resume).
