Hearns first loss comes at the hands of a fully blown Middleweight, I can tell you that much.

As said, Hearns would not lose until he challenged Hagler. If given the chance, he unifies the welter title, beating either Benitez or Duran (whichever happens to be co-champ at that time).

Duran would fight either Cuevas, Benitez, or Hearns for the 147-pound title. Unless he fights Cuevas, he might never win the welter title. If he fights Cuevas (assuming Cuevas chooses to fight him instead of Hearns), he won't have to suffer the indignity of a "No Mas" incident, but his win(s) over him won't have the glory earned from his Montreal moment either.

Hagler might defend his title at least 3 more times, breaking Monzon's record; or might just choose to retire after the Mugabi fight. Either way, he doesn't end his career on such a sour note.

 

Benitez takes advantage of the situation, becomes part of the Fab Four by fighting Hagler but loses a decision instead

 

I reckon Benitez stands to gain alot form this

I don't see why it would've happened earlier. If anything, if Hearns had succeeded in unifying at 147, he might've had an incentive to continue to drain himself down and stay there longer, who knows.

 

Pre-Hitman. Hagler's the first one to inflict a loss on Benitez's record, Benitez than proceeds to move back down to defend his WBC Super WW title against Hearns, loses a decision, and we then get "The War"
